  2. Sweet fish, Brokeju. Congrats!
  3. Crank Addict, Last Saturday, my buddy and I went out targeting smallies (see My Fishing Tournament or Outing section - "Good times this weekend!" for pics) and do you know where we were catching our largest fish? Yup, sand flats. We tried many rocky areas (points, islands, humps, etc.), areas with scattered rock large and small. We caught some dinks on these areas but nothing of any size. Our larger fish came from 3-8 ft of water on sand flats in the morning and 8-15 ft on the first ledge along the sand flats in the afternoon. Although, I will note that these flats do have logs scattered along the bottom which gives the smallies something to relate to (though we saw many smallies just cruising the flats). This may differ from your areas. The lake I am referring to is very clear (about 10 -12 ft of visibility) and quite deep in some areas. These areas produced very well last year around the same time as well. BUT, on other lakes I've fished, those rocky areas (points, islands, humps, etc.) and areas with scattered rock (large and small) have produced very well also. So to answer your original question, yes, I have experienced larger catches in these areason some lakes. Hope that helps!
  4. Thanks hawg caller! Now if I could only get onto some fish the size of the ones you catch........ ;D
  5. Nice fish BassChump. Congrats!
  6. Thanks guys! nashkcn, your post gave me a chuckle! ;D
  7. I agree with everyone else, get the Crucial (or a few ;D). I love mine. Welcome to Bass Resource Jacob0434!
  8. Congratulations flechero!
  9. Thanks gents! fishinfiend: This lake had a lot of cover that looked like that and believe it or not, the bigger fish were caught where there was much less visible cover. This is probably due to fishing pressure. Josh VanderMeer: These lakes surround the Barry's Bay area. Are you familiar with the region (Ottawa Valley)? firefightn15: Yep, the fish definitely helped, but we also had beautiful weather and lots of laughs. Perfect! 8-) Thanks again!
  10. Hello folks, Well, I went up to visit my buddy Craig this weekend (3 hours North) to get down to business and do some fishing. I left from work on Thursday but arrived in town too late to go fishing as Craig had to work early Friday morning. So, Friday after Craig got off work we got out to chase largies until dark and we did fairly well. We intended on capturing some of the fish on camera but my camera thought otherwise. Saturday we were on the water at a different lake for 5:30 a.m. to target smallies for the day. We had a great time and caught some decent fish. We landed about 25 smallies in total (and lost 3 nice ones at the side of the boat........forgot the net :-[). My camera was now back in order. Here are some pics: (Same fish as above) Craig with a couple smaller smallies: Sunday we were back on yet another small lake to target largies again. This lake produced some more decent fish and some more good times in Gumby (the little green Minn Kota powered boat we're in) ;D. This lake usually produces some nice fish for its size and this day was no exception. Here are some more pics: Thanks for readin' and lookin'.
  11. I love my two Crucials! Never fished with a Carrot.
  12. Welcome David!
  13. Welcome David!
  14. Well...........I don't really know why our season is so short. :-/ I am about 2 1/2 hours from Buffalo and I have no idea when their bass season opens or closes. And, with gas prices these days, wellyou know.
  15. MaxDal, Our Bass season goes from June 28th - November 15th.
  16. MaxDal: You're definitely right; it does suck having to wait until June 28th to catch bass. I would love to be able to get out after em' during the pre-spawn and spawn, but unfortunately we have to wait for post spawn. But, it's GAME ON now! firefightn15: Yeah, it's nice to FINALLY get out there and target bass. Every time I'd go out after crappie or pickerel I'd be looking at all the great bass cover I would pass by on the way to the lake. I picture the bass and try to figure out how they would be positioned and what technique I could use to lure them into a strike if the season were open at the time. ;D I only target other species to kill time until bass opens. It gets me on the water! Thanks again guys!
  17. Thanks gents! Chaddy, it's in the Fenelon Falls area.
