i used to have a 782 and i loved it bit a buddy of mine just had to have it , so i sold it to him and i was just going to buy another one but i already have 3 med action rods to i thought that i would try out a med heavy.

how often do you have to change braided line ? does the color fade after a while ? and is there any difference in tying a not ?

FINALLY I went out this morning caught a 2lb bass a good size pickerel and somthing that was pretty big i don't know what it was because i lost it before i got it to shore .

i just ordered a g loomis sjr 783 imx spinning rod it's 6'6" med/heavy fast action i bought it to use as my all around go to rod , do you think i made a good choice ?

I'm having the worst fishing season of my life so far 6 trips out and ZERO ! fish .

I think it's the fact that everybody seems to be into lite rods and reels these days the quantum reels are fairly heavy for instance a pti 20 spinning reel is 10.5 oz the nearest competitor is 1.5 oz lighter. That in my opnion is the only thing wrong w/ them i had a energy pti 20 spinning reel and i loved it never had a problem the 3 years that i owned it , but it WAS really heavy compare to my pfleuger and shimano reels (it was a full 4.5 oz heaver than the same size pfleuger)

I've been told by someone from a reputable shop that 3 bearings is good any more is just (as he put it ) "WINDOW DRESSING" is that true or is more bearings really better in a spinning reel ?

i started that thread about the play but i was talking spinning reels not baitcast reels.

i had a quantum tour edition 6'6" med spinning rod and i loved it i think they are underated but they aren't even close to being in the same class as a loomis imx . try fishing with the imx , holding it isn't doing it justice When i bought my first imx the quantum just hung in the rod rack till i sold it and bought another loomis . The quantum energy pt spinning reel is really nice , one of the nicest reels i've ever used the only drawback is that it's heavy.

RW if the play is engineered into the reel to "protect the gearing"why doesn't the 650.00 stella have any play in the handle or rotor ?

The big deal with play is that a fishing reel that cost $250.00 should not have any play at all , it's pretty sad that a 99.00 reel has no play or a 110 diawa has no play but a 229 or 250 dollar shimano does.

I know that i'm going to get a lot of crap for this but i have a sustain 2500 fb and from day one i've never been happy with it. The rotor has play and the handle has play so i haven't bought a shimano reel for years .Tonight i thought i'd give them another chance so i went to bass pro and looked at the stradic mgfb 159.99 the sustain fe 249.00 and the stella 3000 fd .I'll give them the stella , it's extremely nice BUT it's also 650.00 ,the new sustain and the stradic both had play in the rotor and handle , granted not as much as the older one but it still had play even the salesman who is a diehard shimano guy was disgusted so i ended up leaving with another pfeluger supreme for 100.00 and NO play in the handle or rotor. SORRY SHIMANO FANS BUT I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE FACINATION WITH THESE PAPERWEIGHTS.

what is the difference between the stella 3000 fd@ 650.00 and the 3000 fb @499.00 ?

pflueger supreme 100.00 magnesieum and 10 bearings the best reel i own, FAR better than my 229.00 shimano sustain.

My reason for asking anyway is to see if you can get one cheaper than a new one, I've never had to send one back.

the way i look at it is if you have a loomis rod that you payed 150.00 for 5-6-7 years ago and it has wear and tear and you break somthing simple like a guide you send it back w/ 50.00 and you have a brand new one sent to you , and most likely the price for a new one isn't even close to that original 150.00. but even if it went up to 300.00 it only cost you 50.00 PS sorry i'm a little cranky today it's pouring here in ma. i've been fishing 4 days in a row and caught NOTHING!

It looks like a fairly nice reel and a lot like a pfleuger president. Let us know how you like it if you decide to get one.

as a matter of fact i called yesterday and got a voicemail , but i will defenitly follow up on the call just in case they repair and sell them at a discount.

What difference does it matter where they go? it doesn't matter where they go i was just wondering if you could pick up a repaired one for 1/2 price ,IF THAT'S OK WITH YOU?
