  1. Even though I live in the deep South,It's so cold at night that the game warden would be waiting for you with a strait-jacket if you went fishing at night.
  2. When I have a good day,the hat I'm wearing becomes my "lucky" hat.I'll wear that hat every time I go bassin' until I have a bad day with it on.I'll then start wearing various hats until I have another good day.The cycle begins again.Coaches can be very superstitious.
  3. The thing I've noticed where I fish is any bass caught from 8-12 inches is automatically a "1 pound bass".A true one pound bass is a pretty good fish.
  4. I fish when I feel like it.I do like to fish early morning ,late evening, and at night when the weather gets warm.I'll also fish in a snowstorm, but I'll wait until the middle of the day for that.
  5. Tenka,we're about an hour north of Biloxi. When you get there, give one of us a PM and we'll have to set up an early morning hawg hunt. We'll wait until the bassin' gets really good.March and April are good, but May through mid July is outstanding for early morning topwater action .And they'll be big 'uns.Give us a holler.Tight Lines,RR
  6. In the championship match(I won't say who) both anglers agreed that there was no need to fish the 4th qrt. because one was up so much.An Icon of bassin' basiclly conceded the match.(pretty sure it was the championship match).
  7. I use white curly tailed grub on a lead head jig. Many different ways to work it through a school of bass.
  8. Yea,I want to see the fishing not the fisher.
  9. I'd love to read and absorb just some of the info in it.Did you have to order it,or can it be found at some of the major bookstore chains? It sounds like an interesting read.
  10. Cold, muddy water is the absolute worst fishing condition for bass.Even the touring pros acknowledge that. They could probably drum up some bites, but they'd have to work for every bite.
  11. In winter,I fish from mid morning to mid afternoon. As the sun heats up certain areas of the lake,I've been taught that bass activity should pick up.I know,I know it doesn't always work out that way.I would much prefer to fish my warm weather times 4:30 AM-until.I don't think I'd do very well from 4:30-8:30 AM,but who knows?
  12. My resolution is to catch a double digit bass this year.Last year only caught a 7 pounder.I want to get back into the 10+ club.
  13. Whether they should or shouldn't,the fact is young people look up to and emulate famous people such as athletes, musicians, bass pros, etc. Some are good role models and some not so good.Personally,I'd rather have my son look up to Ike or G-man than TO.
  14. 1)Angler On Tour 2)Classic patterns 3)Fishing University
  15. The lake that I fish most often,Lake Geiger, has been drawn down 5-6 feet for its normal winter draw down. It's been down about two weeks. Most big bass rigs either can't or won't try to launch.A few of us die hards with lighter boats have the lake to ourselves.I would think that with the bass concentrated more the fishing might improve ,or at the least ,not get worse.Well,it's gotten worse. The first few days, the fishing was about normal for this time of year and the cold water conditions. Now for the last week the fishing has totally turned off.I've searched and searched using every cold water (and some not so cold water)technique that I know. The one good thing I can say about it is all of the good structure that I've found that I had no idea existed. So my point ,if you can call it that, is lake water down, fishing down the tubes.
  16. Although I agree with all the others about black or dark colored top waters, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, etc.,I have had more success when fishing at night using a Texas rigged plastic worm.Black or a dark colored(I always like purple) worms have worked for me.This is not the time for finese worms.I've caught plenty of bass on a 7 1/2" Culprit,I'd imagine a 10' worm would work as good or better.Don't forget a good flashlight and a can of skeeter dope(bug repellent).
  17. This is the "Rogue-mobile" with a 25 hp Yamaha. www.myfishingpictures.com/img/084934.jpg
  18. Give me central Florida as a dream bassin' home.My son lived in Celebration,Fl(Disney) and the whole area is fantastic(especially the bassin').
  19. I was catching some on a Green Pumpkin 6" finese worm. Also had some luck with the same bait in Junebug,Watermelon seed, and red swirl.Green Pumpkin has been my best color.Think I'll give the brush hog a go on my c-rig.Time to shake things up.
  20. It could have been when it saw you guys mugs,it scared it so bad it had a heart attack and dird on the spot...LOL (just kiddin' now basspro.I'm sure y'all are two handsome dudes)
  21. Merry Christmas,my fellow ***atics! Hope you got all the big boy toys tou dreamed about.I got way more than I deserved!
  22. Hookem,as has been already said, yes you can catch 'em(if the lakes not frozen over),but you fish for a few bites. The good news is a lot of the fish are pretty fair sized bass.I've averaged between 0-3 fish every tme I've been.I haven't slayed them, but I've caught a couple of estimated 5 1/2 lb bass, one that was almost a 4 lb bass, several in the 3 lb range, and several in the 2 lb range. That may not sound like much, but I've had my line stretched a few times. It's been worth every minute and dollar I've spent so far this cold season. And there's always that possibility of a truly big 'un biting.Plus I've got the lake to myself.
