Buying Used
most older boats have a wood frame. if water gets through a crack it will swell and become weak. check the transom by rocking on the motor with force, there should be no flex. jump on the deck and feel for soft spots too plus wet boats weigh twice as much

Drop Shot - Usable from the bank?
I like the drop shot from the bank the best because I can cast it a mile into the wind and get out to a drop off that I know about. Don't drag it. lift and reel then let it settle plus you can let it sit like live bait and throw another rig or drink (soda) ;D

How careful do I need to be around lead?
Lead dust can float in the air then settle, then re float when disturbed but the amount that would harm an adult has to be quite significant. It is much more harmful to children whose bodies store it rather than expel it like adults. Long term it causes brain damage. Remodeling an old house or digging in dirt next to an old house that has been scraped of lead paint are 2 significant ways to harm children. No worries about lead heads next to your bed unless you are filing them down while you sleep.

How would you fish this time of year?
I can't believe Mass lakes are open??????????? In CT it'll be another month fish near old weeds and rocks in the afternoon sun. try rattletraps and cover lots of open water

Having trouble with baitcaster casting!
its easiest to have a friend show you Adjust the drag so your lure barely drops to the ground holding your rod staight out. Then tighten it a tiny bit so it stops. Try casting softly at first until you master 15' Pull out 30' and put some tape on the spool so while you learn your birds nests aren' too big when you pull out a nest keep your thumb on the spool--it just works out easier that way--then pick if you need to good luck

What do you want to know about Iaconelli?
What fishing techniques does he feel he invented, modified or improved that no one else knew about before?

Minimum vehicle for bass boat
I think a 16' boat is huge for a car to tow. There will be some serious wear and tear on your motor and tranny. The hills will blow your transmission in no time. Cars aren't made to pull.

What are you federations rules on coangler rights??
I agree Matt boaters and non boaters should not compete against each other I also like it when the non boater only has to catch 3 for a limit Our fed doesn't specify nonboater rights http://www.ctbass.com/applications/2009_Tournamnet_Rules.pdf

St. Croix Premier Crankin rod

how would you fish this?
one more suggestion: repost this map in a couple months after you've fished it a few times and let us know where you've been catching some and we can help you modify patterns or narrow your search, plus other members will chime in that may be too busy this winter. J Francho makes a good point--he is always thinking out of the box--a great attribute to have
