  1. Although it may seem fair to let a coangler run the trolling motor and choose spots, I don't think its right to put a boater in the back of his own boat. He owns it and maintains it. I think its a kick in the face.
  2. To me, he is an idol because he is a city slicker. Just like Snoop Dogg he had dreams of getting out of the Hood someday. He is an inspiration because he still gets excited, calling a 2lb bass huge even in the South. I'd like to know how much of his drama is real. Is he bipolar? Dr Jeckel? Has any Dr. ever prescribed Prozac. Like when he kicked over the Flag on his boat that almost ended his career, he seemed to do it without realizing the consequences. He really just snapped! Where will he be in 20 years? Do women chase him for his money and fame like a rock star? If he were to start over in life what would he change? Does he like how the media views him as Americas most Hated Fisherman? i.e. Does he do it on purpose for the media? Why hasn't he jumped on the bandwagon as a rod, reel and lure designer? Does he wish he could take a year off to relax?
  3. I love my 2- 7' St croix med power baitcasters for cranking and jerking but I'm sure they are not the best for the money. Its just what I'm used to
  4. How about that new commercial with a remote control boat for trolling lures. Then you just drive it over to yourself and land the fish.
  5. thats what I do and it works--during cold fronts use as small a weight as possible for the extra slow fall great for bed fishing too
  6. love those humps especially the kidney shaped ones for summer Bank fishing is tough with a rocky bottom for jigs and C-rigs. current is always good with smallies in the summer fish inlets after heavy rains. jerkbaits spinnerbaits, and cranks casted parellel to shore topwater the same but right next to shore a few feet away from the edge when you find a smallie dropshot the area with cheap weights can't go wrong when something says fish attractor either--I'm not sure what that is but it sounds good Also on the north side the 3- 40 ft holes are a travel route for bass in the spring the 10' hump should be spawning central since there isn't much for flats there hope this helps--good fishing
  7. There are no rules; just general guidlines that someone smart wrote. Fish don't read
  8. you can probably contact them to see if theres a boater that is looking for a nonboater use your instincts and intuition while fishing. Don't feel like you have to fish like others with their braid and swimbaits. you can just texas rig dropshot or crank all day if thats what you like to do. Don't get caught up in complicated bass fishing. the bass haven't changed in the last 100 years good luck
  9. Yup fishing has a long way to go before its Live like the Superbowl. Check online to watch live weigh-ins
  10. I've seen designs for some but don't know where. The AA battery pump is for bait and not big enough for a limit of bass. Do the fish a favor and get one that operates on a trolling battery.
  11. Aside from that being a great rig, I love that you bring it on a bellhop cart up the elevator. Never realized you could have a bass boat in a high rise
  12. Dealers don't seem to budge much so a lowball offer is not gonna get much attention. With the sucky economy you could get a great deal from a private seller. For 10K you could get a really nice glass boat if its well kept a couple years older. Spring is coming up and there should be alot more on the market soon. So my suggestion is offer 8K and see what they say. They probably got it for 7K. If not keep looking until you find a great deal thats hard to pass up. Good luck.
  13. I'll chat because I'm social but I'm not looking for sales pitches or recommendations. I go there to buy if they have what I need. I usually go to Cabelas, and 2 different Dicks stores to find my stuff
  14. I bed fish for fun and during tourneys. I don't think it wrong. There are plenty of bass that bed deeper and have lots of surviving young. Its been happening for many years and bass populations are strong across the country. I realize any bass that are pulled off beds cannot protect their eggs but the places I fish get hammered all the time and I still catch plenty of small bass every summer. Bass lay thousands of eggs in hopes that 2 survive to breed. This numbers game is what protects the species. It is legal and not immoral so stop bashing others that enjoy bed fishing.
  15. one time at band camp: I thought a thermocline was bait fish suspended. It was a cloudy line that went for miles.
  16. Another important point is hindsight. When you get off the water and say "I should of..." Even if you had a great day you always wonder if could have done better. Like Paul said "understanding the reasons 'why or why not'"
  17. maybe a soft swimbait with a paddletail like this one from strike king http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp;jsessionid=HM0UBVJKOXP2HLAQBBJSCNNMCAEFIIWE?id=0055973123556a&type=product&cmCat=froogle&cm_ven=data_feed&cm_cat=froogle&cm_pla=0290207&cm_ite=0055973123556a&_requestid=14932
  18. someday they will be the #1 collectors item
  19. I have a ton of 'old' rods and reels that I inherited from my grandfather who taught me to fish. Some freshwater, saltwater and flyfishing gear. If I sold it all I could probably buy a new bass boat but I can never sell what he wanted me to have. Included in this collection are 2 Orvis split bamboo flyrods. 1 -6' and 1 -9'.
  20. Sorry for all the pains bro. Not sure where you want this thread to go. 1. sorry for your pain 2. At 36 years old I already have arthritis in my big toe from a sports injury--sometimes it won't bend now. 3. last year I tore ligaments in my ankle when I drank too much and had a "thread the needle contest" (team pampers should know what that is), BTW, I won that contest 4. Recently I started pumping iron and everyday there is a new pain that doesn't go away in my shoulders or knees. 5. So last year I decided to not jump out of boats on trailers---now I climb down Not looking forward to the distant future
  21. if there is a handle on the top of the bow, bolt a 1x6 to it so it hangs out in front, then screw another to the end of up and down so its shaped like an L and reinforce it. somethin like that
  22. 4.5' st. croix UL with 4 lb floro for trout only
  23. I thought the only brand made is Shimano I have 2 Abu baitcasters but I'm not impressed with them. Lots of problems with the level wind system
