  1. I like how you think. love when the lightbulb goes off or on
  2. yeah that is not consistant seems like they just make up rules like a 3 year old (no offense to our young anglers)
  3. The creek bed has to be key. Is it a productive pond as well? Just one 5 lb. or several larger fish? The pond is here, looks awesome: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Broad+Brook,+CT&daddr=41.91922,-72.544098&hl=en&geocode=Cf0HXGRrnUd8FVeRfwIdBwat-w%3B&gl=us&mra=mi&mrsp=1&sz=16&sll=41.917575,-72.542768&sspn=0.011799,0.019312&ie=UTF8&ll=41.919224,-72.543637&spn=0.00295,0.004828&t=h&z=18 You can clearly see the creek channel. A two lb bass too: thats it there were no bass anywhere in the shallows because it was clear water and I saw nada
  4. here is a pond I used to fish--it is about 3 feet deep throughout with a 6' deep channel and a laydown in the channel which I caught a 5lber in the pond is under 10 acres http://maps.google.com/maps?q=broad+brook+ct&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GPEA_en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&split=0&gl=us&ei=7VraSb7yC47rlQeioP3cDA&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1 modify-- that didn't work like I thought --zoom in and scroll up a pinch Broad Brook Mill Pond
  5. I forgot about the cranberry bogs in western RI and Cape Cod that are no deeper than 5', get ice, and put out 6-8 pound fish. A northern strain bass that is latharlgic for 4-5 months a year and hits that 5+ pound mark must be old (not sure exactly), nevermind how old a 8-9 pound fish may be. And some years we can have hot summers where the water hits the low-mid 80's in the summer and water levels can drop a foot or two and then a winter with the same water level and ice. Yet the fish can live for 10 years. So they must be able to adapt to different conditions. I would not expect one of these fish to be able to be taken out of it's environment and be able to live in crystal clear rocky water and sustain its weight and live for a good amount of time if this is done when the fish is say 4 years old. And visa versa. But raised in the environment it will. So if Hannon had started with frye and raised them in four feet of water, they could be fine. Cranberry bogs?? I thought they are dry and flood them just to harvest.
  6. this pond of about 8 acres has lots of 3-6lbers (really). it is almost 12 in 1 area the rest is 3-8 the wind was blowing onto the shallow side of the lake all of our bass were on the windy shoreline away from the deep area
  7. Good luck I tried a prepost last year and bombed but I don't believe in superstitions
  8. Thanks Tokyo Tony, I had a great time too. Keep chucking your Woody, It'll happen. To add to your great post the water temp was almost 60 there but most of the larger lakes are probably 50 so it was weird to me fishing that temp at that time of year. Definitely a mental challenge for me to adjust. Usually I fish the season not the temp. We caught tons of 1 lbers but where are all the mamas? We caught all the schooling males and only 1 good female. We did go deeper looking for more girls but to no avail. Huge pond is mostly hydrilla in the summer. Old weed edges held a bunch of fish. In a prespawn pattern, how do you locate and catch pigs here?
  9. sometimes I don't whether to hold onto my hat or the handle
  10. some people care about affiliations BASS has meetings monthly and FLW has paper tourneys with 1 annual meeting in my area but more importantly talk to the president and find out things like how many members it has, how old is the club, where they meet, what lakes they fish normally, does the same person win every time, then attend a meeting and see if you connect with some of the members-- ie. are they good guys good luck modified: cost to join and cost per tourney also some clubs do volunteer work or fund raisers

  19. hello
  20. I do know that CT's next state record will come out of Twin Lakes, that place probably has numerous state record fish in it. I have never seen a public lake that throws out more 3-6 pound fish that Twin. It has the perfect grasslines (until sprayed in July), GIANT craws, and a trout population. Along with tons of white perch and crappie.
  21. Of course its public record. Here's a link with all states fish records Largemouth and others. http://www.another site/staterecords/records.cfm?state=Connecticut I know the weights are public but the story of the fight and presentation may be at the discretion of the angler
  22. google shrink photos there are tons of free sites
  23. I have 2 7' Med action fast tip Premier rods and I like them for cranks. They may be a bit stiff though a crank expert. $60 is a steal
  24. I've never seen any story or pics on CT's records. I'm guessing that info is not public
