Smallie Utopia pushing 80Lbs?
- Smallie Utopia pushing 80Lbs?
Well Tin and LBH you missed out on another unforgeable day of Smallmouth heaven! Stopped counting numbers and weight after 20 plus and overcoming 70lbs Buckmanjr (N.E.F) PM'd me minutes before you guys did. Hopefully this post and the one prior will get you out with me soon He informed me he has never caught a Massachusetts smallie,so what a pleasure it was to turn a 16 year old kid onto a day like today. By no means did I even think it would be possible to duplicate my previous trip here but knew I could put him on his first MA Smallmouth here. Spent an hour or so on the same 50 acre SM pond and Jeff(Buckmanjr) hooks up w/the first fish, but no smallie rather a 3lb LM on a Blk/Blue Bico/Ugly otter combo. With in the next 15 Minutes I've got two SM pushing 4lbs. No Smallies for jeff So I decide to jump ponds and try a larger lake I had never fished before and darn glad we did! Toooooooooo many 3+ and 4's to recall and lost track in the mid Twenties! Can't even even begin to to tell you where and when, but the majority of fish were plucked using the Ozmo with the Black brown Arikie and Hudbug running a close second yet when they refused to hit those I tried dropshotting for the first time and inticed them w/a 1/O hook 8lb line BPs 7' pro finese w/ the 6" Robo worm and/or a Yum chartrues lizard . Absolutely an amazing day! My best outing ever! Rather then bablbe on, Jeff ended up with 8 or 9 Smallies and me..... well just FRIGGIN unbelievable! Here's some pic's of the day. Sorry I've tried the PB thing and still get red X's. It's your turn next guys get it while the goings this good!- Open seat 5/11

My buddy Don has been bugging me to get him out on this Smallie pond (cartopper only)I've been fishing for a few years now. I'm guessing It's about 50 acres, with all the bear cans, litter and lures(especially the ones placed in the tree at the launch ) looks like it's not much of a secret anymore The plan was to guide him around and put him on fish. Well it worked like a charm and he had one of his best days ever. It's always a good idea to keep anyone over 400lbs as happy as possible We put in around 5:45 AM and fished until 3:30. Fish were breaking the surface hitting bugs all over the place, 15 minutes in not another surface crash, tough to keep Don quite at his size, when he sneezes the jon boat moves about 4 feet Scoped the beds from start to finish. from start to about 10AM beds had bucks on them. 10:30 to 11:30 beds went bare. 11:30 to 2:30 Females moved in all squeezing eggs, 2:45 bare again 3:pm bucks back up and spooky as all get out! Only one LM all day, smallest SM around 2lbs average fish went between 2.5 and 3lbs with the two biggest going around 4lbs. Totals for the day were 26 fish going over 70lbs! What a great day and couldn't have asked for better weather. All Don's fish came on the watermelon/red fleck Arkie and mine on the White Bico w/white single tail grub.- Rhode Island bass are all screwed up!!!!
Wait for the sun to get high and watch the Females move in! Had a banner day on beds yesterday!- Jigs...from start to fishin'
Great thread and I'm sure it will be of help to those who are jig newbies as well as those who have jigphobia. Anyway, I noticed (unless I missed it,if I did my apologies!) there was no mention of swimming jigs. This is something I've been trying out this year, when others are cranking, though not w/a swimming jighead design. I have had limited succes and it takes a bit getting used to.- Rhode Islanders???
Welcome JL Coventry only produces people that think they can fish! ;D- What is the best spinnerbait??
Guys, I am co-owner of Rattle Head Baits and thus, partial to the Rattle Head Spinnerbait, However, I was reading this post and immediately thought of our bait. The Rattle Head Spinnerbait is different from any other brand of spinnerbait on the market because the hook moves side-to-side to tick a brass chamber in the head of the bait. In our underwater sound tests, it sounds kinda of like the clicking of a crawdad. It is this distinct sound, even more than the added vibration, etc., I believe, that makes the difference in the water. And, based on the info that I have received from our pros and return customers, I am confident that if the conditions are right for a spinnerbait, and that one is fishing the right color, size, and blade combination for the situation, our spinnerbait will outperform a regular spinnerbait of the same color, size and blade combination, 3 or 4 to 1. Don't get me wrong I am not saying our spinnerbait is the "best spinnerbait," I simply saying that the distinct noise produced by our spinnerbait makes it more likely to attract bass from further distances and allow them to zero in on it over a regular bait in the water. Bekki Interesting?????? Might have to get a few of those :- Weather change...who's seeing a difference here in the North East??
Wondering what you like to use for drop shotting? Never really stuck it out but would like to learn more about it. Thanks, Paul- Stunk up the joint!
Maspee/Sandwich MA line http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pdf/dfwmashp.pdf- What is the best spinnerbait??
YUP! But like I said I can't find them on thier webstie anymore and *** only has a picture w/o options to purchase?- Weather change...who's seeing a difference here in the North East??
;D Welcome to New England!- What is the best spinnerbait??
I used to be partial to Revenge but have been using the Assasintor for the past year with very good succes Yet I can't find them on their website anymore? Bummin if they stopped pruduction http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpersuaderclacker.html- Has anyone tried this lure...
Bought the Crappie last year. I wasn't impressed, you have to crank it at quite a good clip to get some action out of it and didn't swim true.- Antique Rods and Tip-up's
Cool, thank Russ good idea! I've been so busy I still haven't had time to post the pic's. Kitchen with fishing gear? Your definately not married! ;D- The Evo Jig
I now have a new favorite saying myself; screw the other other guys on those other boards ;D Thanks again for the laughs, insite and instructions!- The Evo Jig
First I laughed ;D then I cried :'( What an emotional roller coaster! Thanks Bobby extremely appreciated! Side note: I am formerly from another site and left because of the hijacking of threads and constant belittling of people (who are human after all) for making a mistake, mistatement or asking a dumb question, mostly my dumb questions ;D. I can honestly say, "I know I've found my home!" With people like BobbyMegastrike being here and his positive attitude, (to many more outstanding people here to mention, but not forgotten!)make this site stand out amoungst them all! Thanks for having me!- The Evo Jig
Previously I had made a negative reference regarding the EVO jig. Yet, since then I would like to retract my negative statment and find myself wishing I had more of them. Confidence in my jig use went down and now having trouble finding them in my local dealers. BP never has them stocked and Dick's seems to only have the older versions and not in the colors I want. I will be ordering a smorgashbord of them in addition to the E2 head(what a great idea!) through the link at the end of this week. It's mind boggling how quick your confidence drops when when you switch from something you have had previous success with! So, back to my original questions; #1) How can I change out the skirts when one gets worn or when I want to change to another skirt color when on the water? #2)Can I purchase just the Evo skirts for back ups? #3) On the link they only seem to have the black skirts in the lighter weight jigs and wondering why? #4) Could someone recommend a floating worm for use with the E2 and or the original Evo? Your response is greately appreciated! Thanks, Paul- Antique Rods and Tip-up's
I have some old Bamboo rods and Tip up's, what I believe are from the 30's or earlier.I completely forgot I had these and rediscovered them today while putting my tackle away. I'll take pic's tomorrow and post them. Do we have anyone here that is knowledgeable or any advice on where I could find out what they're worth? Thanks in advance for your help!- Stunk up the joint!
Hit Mashpee today for our first club T. Water temps around 57 + winds between 5 and 10mph. Suckers by the hundreds in beds the size of my boat and Smallies also on beds???????? Freaky day! Through a Skinny dipper in pearl pro blue, black jig and spinner, natural shad spider grub, worm, sexy shad 16' crank, Mega fluke, Hudd bug and shaky head :-/ Started with the Skinny Dipper, first 3 out of five casts had three dink SM so I continued to through it for the next 2 hours.....NOTTA! Had a follower come off a bed at 10:30 so I followed it up with the Zoom Mega Fluke. WHAAAAAM,2.82 Smallie 3' in the air and out of the water!!!!!!!!! Thought I had it figured out.
