  1. CX is fluoro coated line. I don't care for it, but it has it's followers. CXX is one of the toughest copoly lines out there. KVD Line & Lure Conditioner are a must with it.
  2. I'm going to assume by your locale, that these fish are in current. This time of year? I'd be looking in deep pools. I use a float rig to deliver the bait. Nothing more efficient than letting a float trot downstream, with your bait in the zone the whole way. Here is a pdf with great illustrations on how to rig: http://www.raventackle.com/Shotting%20Patterns.pdf You can use a spinning or baitcaster. I like a longer rod, light power and slow action. I have trout rods ranging from 8' UL to 15' for big rivers. If you don't want to invest in special equipment, a 7 spinning rod or your crankbait casting rod will work fine. If you really get into it, I recommend a centrepin reel. Look it up on Youtube. It's the best way to catch trout, period. Notice I said catch, not fish for. Really. You can use whatever baits, flies, egg sacks, but my best brown bait the past few seasons has been white trout worms: http://www.madrivermanufacturing.com/stworms.htm Yes, dipping them in JJ's works really well, if you want to add some color and/or scent. Here's a nice buck from last month: And a nice hen: Note the little pink worm above. BTW, that rod is a 10' Shimano Convergence, and an Okuma Avent centerpin. 10# Suffix Elite, 5# fluoro leader.
  3. Curado B has to about the most fun to take from backup status to first choice with a simple tune up.
  4. Excellent point! One of my all time favorite spoons for browns: Ironic food for thought
  5. LOL, I talk the talk, but you should see my 1st couple trips bass fishing in April. Talk about knock the rust off! Man, it's ugly. Long winters erase skill.
  6. I think you misread that. I said congenial, not congenital. Lol
  7. Who is the most congenial?
  8. These are interesting. What I don't get about them spinning is usually BOTH hooks are in the fish. They wouldn't spin, but then I guess that isn't when you have risk losing them as much as if just one hook in them.
  9. Reminds me of a Quantum Code for some reason.
  10. The Cutting points are better for bigger baits, and bigger game with hard jaw flesh. For average size cranks, the needle points penetrate bass jaws with little pressure.
  11. I have the Pinnacle DHC5-681SPM, and it's a great rod, though not a micro guide rod.

  13. Get some screen captures if you can, I'd like to see it myself.
  14. It sounds more like a short. If there is juice running through the ground wire, you got a short somewhere. A new harness is less than $10, and wiring it is a snap. it took me a couple hours to do mine, and I lost a fish line in the process, and had to get a wire snake. Use the old lines to pull the new ones through. Solder and shrink wrap your connections and you'll be good for years.
  15. VMC Vanadium Inlines and Owner Stinger ST-36 are your best bets. I wouldn't replace 1,000 or more hooks at a time. Get rid of the rusted parts, and set up a few dozen of each that you want to use. Otherwise, You risk ruining another batch of hooks. The baits store better without their hooks anyway.
  16. I heard from a little birdie he got a good deal on a Zillion.
  17. Like I said, so you can use a spinning rod. There aren't very many nice UL casting rods, mostly kiddie junk, but there is a bevy of nice UL spinning rods.
  18. OK, I see. You never intend to charge an account after the gift card runs up, just stock up on more gift cards. I understand now.
  19. That has only happened when I didn't have a set location or pattern. It means I'm in 100% learning opportunity mode. Every failure is success, and every successes isn't a failure. Now, if that happens on my home lake, I blame my partner.
  20. I use braid and leader only for shallow, weedy conditions. An Alberto knot is the best for braid to leader.
