  1. Hmmmm....Shimano at least publishes a list of reels they do not have parts for anymore. Can't say the same for some others. As far as Pinnacle goes, the three times I've needed parts, they've had them at my doorstep in days.
  2. I think it's funny that people get up in arms about the Alabama Rig, but dismiss something getting widespread use in the pros as a gimmick. These baitfish simulators have been around a while. Remember Biosonix?
  3. If you want to try a micro swivel, look for Blackbirds. They will actually pass through guides with out issue. I use TWO in terminal rigs for stream trout, and they never break. These aren't little fish either....
  4. It's media hyping some case that will be tossed. Any case can be brought forward - it's one of our civil liberties. Hopefully we elected judges smart enough to toss the frivolous cases out.
  5. Thus, the flipping switch was born. Not everyone uses a lefty reel.
  6. It's a solid. You aren't going to get poisoned handling it. Start melting it or grinding it to dust, and inhaling the fumes and dust, or eating it and letting you digestive juices work on it, that's a different story.
  7. No, rarely use anything but tungsten, but not for the reasons listed above, which look suspiciously cut and paste from some ad hype. I like tungsten mostly for reasons I listed way above, in post #8. Keep in mind I live in NY, where sale of lead weights is prohibited. It's simply easier to buy tungsten.
  8. My bulldog chew the ankles off anything, eat it, and then give you puppy eyes.
  9. YEp, LOL. You know I can edit it back....
  10. Not really Wayne. Do you or have you owned or driven a Bullet? A properly set height on the jack plate won't result in either cavitation or 360° turns. Geez.
  11. Uhhh, this is BassResource.com after all.
  12. In a Bullet, that will net you chine walk. Do some research on proper jack plate settings for that hull. On my buddy's Bullet, raising the motor to the right height solved a lot of handling issues. Get a compression test done on it. Have a pro go over the whole boat before considering. That price seems a little on the low side, but not super low.
  13. You can find Shimano Stradics on clearance at Gander Mtn. and a few other retailers.
  14. You'll have to state a price range. To me, $200 for a Shimano CI4 is reasonable enough to own three. But that might not be your range.
  15. I couldn't recommend any of the reels listed. A Daiwa Exceler in 2000 size, Shimano Sahara 2500, Pinnacle Performa XT, are all good reels at attainable prices that have worked well for me.
  16. Meaning just that. They are baitcasters. Period. Nothing in the Pinnacle reels was cloned from the Revos. Well, they stole the idea of using a handle with rotating knobs. Pantera's claims are based purely on opinion. It's a silly debate. They are nice reels, they work well, and that's that. The rods are even better. Anyone want to see a steelhead on a Pinnacle spinner?
  17. There is NOTHING unique to the Pure Fishing line that is "cloned" in the Pinnacle.
  18. With jigs? Not really. Trebles are another story....
  19. Rich Zaleski once described using an 18' dropper to catch fish in 42' below his boat in 60' of water. How 'bout them apples?
  20. Leader or dropper (tag end)? Either way, there are no absolutes.
  21. This all sounds "cut and paste" from the interwebz.... True, but it can be so much smaller, that a broad 1/8 oz. tin bullet weight will get through cover with a thick plastic than a tine tungsten weight. Feel bites better? That would line and rod sensitivity, not from the weight. I can still tell bottom composition with other metals - today's rods are leaps and bounds more sensitive than days past. In other words, the added information is moot. Any weight can and has been be painted. Lead is soft, and does not cut line. While lead may not sound environment friendly, in it's state as a fishing weight it is inert, and requires some other chemical or heat applied to be toxic. I agree, 90% of the time, but that is just my opinion.
  22. Actually, you would use it more for flipping. Flipping is a two handed cast. If you have one hand pulling line off the reel (the slack for the initial flip) and one hand holding the rod, then what hand reengages the spool? That's what the flipping switch is for. When you are pitching, its as simple as using a reel with a handle on the opposite side that you cast with. You still have a free hand while pitching, since it's a one handed cast.
