  2. Seems to be a ton of complaints about them.
  3. I don't think so. We see a new thread just about every week bringing up slippage. Always starts with, "No matter how hard I tighten the star, my drag slips..."
  4. It's been over a decade since they changed the law.
  5. IN NY, we used to have to wait until the 3rd Saturday in June. Now it's C&R during off season, with the exception of one region.
  6. Toads and floating frogs for me. There's weeds around most docks where I fish, so a treble hook is right out.
  7. Definitely late 70s early 80s when they popped up. Cork became expensive for a while back then.
  8. Hit by a F150 while on the job. He's been back out fishing too.
  9. This is the correct way to make it. I'm a Smuckers strawberry jam, or homemade freezer jam guy.
  10. Plenty of companies doing things like standardized gear tracks, PowerPro Micro mounts, and Torqeedo mounting kits, universal transducer mounts.
  11. It was just an idea. You could use an extra casting rod that you already have. That's what I did. She tried a few lengths and powers, and likes the 7' MF.
  12. I'm gonna toss in another option, a good spincast, like a Daiwa Goldcast. I got one for my queen, and she loves it. It's on a SC LTB rod.
  13. Some mono backer is required to prevent the braid slipping on the spool.
  14. Done. You can always use the report post link to let us know. We can't be everywhere at once.
  15. Wow, you and @clayton86 should commiserate! Nice fish, and glad you're on the mend.
  16. That was really kind of you. I hope you did some donuts in the parking lot, though.
  17. Fourscore and 12 years ago... Please pay attention to the dates. The OP hasn't been on the site in years.
  18. Fourscore and twelve years ago.... Big bass, it's "dank" For big pike, it's "German Shepherd with fins"
  19. For that boat, two flush mount rod holder, perhaps a Scotty adjustable holder in front of the cockpit, two 3700 containers, basic tools and a scale, and that's about it. I wouldn't bring more than two rods.
  20. I use the cart for my Hobie Compass, but I'm not going far, or over any kind of rough terrain. I also don't carry a ton of gear, and that weight is pretty much centered over the cart anyway. I've looked at the cart scuppers, and they're reinforced. There's also so much flotation inside that if there was a crack, the boat wouldn't sink. Seems like Hobie figured a few things out that others haven't yet. That all said, I can't think of a better cart for non scupper use than a C-Tug. They just work.
  21. Possession and transporting that many fish is illegal, public or private. At least that's how it's worded in NYS rules.
  22. Back in the 70s, they were called "Expert" sets. This is my 4th super car. So far everything works, steering, independent suspension, the V-16, even has a the pancake transmission with a shifter and synchros. It's nuts. (79 steps to complete. I'm in the 400s.
  23. Does Illinois have reciprocity rules with other states? In some states, you lose lose the right to a license, and you lose them in 1/3 of the country.
  24. Those scuppers are seriously beat to hell. Not sure that boat was designed to be carried by the scupper holes.
