You can get a plug harness with a cap, and connect the wires to that, after cutting the female receptacle off. I installed my just behind the driver's seat. Made it convenient to just plug in there instead of fishing for the cord in the battery compartment.

I have Avids and LTBs - over two dozen in fact. The jump from Avid to LTB is not as big as the jump from Premier to Avid.

Console or tiller? That's why I'm looking at tiller - space. I fished out of my buddy's Rebel 1675 XS tiller. He put an 18" extension on the front deck, and three of us fished comfortably, so long as we didn't bring too many rods each. The Pro Guide line has ton's more rod storage. I'm totally comfortable with the tiller configuration. I'm tempted to go up to the 1850, and just fish those restricted lakes from my kayak. That's a lot more boat for just around $5K more. Anyway, sorry OP for making this all about me, lol. Hopefully there's good info for you as well.

^^^That's a good point about timing. I hear of people waiting to set the hook until they feel the fish. I use brightly colored frogs, and sometimes put a pink sticker on the back, just so I can see it better. I hear a slurp, and there's no more frog, I'm setting the hook. Once in a while I goof up and a frog comes flying back, but mostly I pin the fish, and they stay buttoned. I learned this through a lot of trial and error.

Or cut off a jig, and toss it in the lake.

Probably why I don't think there's much difference in Spro or Pad Crashers, while others have reported hookup issues with the former. Spro were my favorite until the Pad Crashers came out.

Most frog rods seem like they're designed for casting a frog, not setting the hook and extracting a large, hooked bass from the slop. I also use a 7-3 H/F in more open water.

That might be true. I don't notice, but I use a 7-6 XXH/mod fast flipping stick for frogs, not the typical h/x-fast frog rod.

The Live Target has more detail, softer rubber, easier to hook up on, but do not last very long. I don't see any difference between the Spro and Pad Crasher, so save your scoots. A completely different frog bait I love is a Deps Bassyrisky. It's not cheap, you really have to swing on the strikes, but it's so weird looking, and works so well when others don't. You'd have to see a video of their action. Sort of a frog/jitterbug thing.
