  1. "You fishing 'off the bottom' again?"
  2. Just order a few shims, and add them to the side that is tight.
  3. I have four year old Invisx on some reels that shows no signs of aging. I'm only refilling the reel because it's getting low on the spool from retying. Formulate that into your budget.
  4. The Pad Crasher is pretty similar to the Spro frog in weight, shape, and walking action. The plastic is a little softer, though.
  5. SEDIFY someone else do it for you
  6. I prefer R-bend. Easier to tie a knot.
  7. I would NOT recommend anchoring a seat to the scuppers.
  8. These boats were built like tanks, so if everything checks out, it should be fine. There's quite a few Rangers from this era up here.
  9. Raul forgot to use the sarcasm font.
  10. If you aren't fishing in the rain, always put the plug in, there no leaks in the hull, and keep it covered, the bilge usually doesn't get all that wet.
  11. Looks like you're right! http://www.slingshots.com/html/new-york-state-gun-laws.html
  12. For decades.
  13. @A-Jay slingshots are illegal in NY.
  14. They never leave anymore. Stay all year round, pooping on every patch of grass they can occupy. I hate them.
  15. Most bait shops up here sell "soft shell crabs" for smallmouth. They are freshly molted crayfish, and smallies go crazy for them. I haven't done it since the early 90s, but a long, 8-9' medium light, moderate spinning action rod loaded with 4-6# mono was the right gear. Tie a gold #4 Eagle Claw hook on, pinch a couple split shot on about 18-24" above the hook. Hook the crab through one of the segments of it's tail, and gently cast the little guy out there. Hold the line between your fingers to detect the bite.
  16. Similar experience, lol. Except I was in a F&S store.
  17. Honestly, all four carrier braids are pretty good. You'll be using a break strength well higher than what you'd actually need. It comes down to what prefer as far as how it handles and it's limpness. Some have more body, like Power Pro, while Suffix is softer and limper.
  18. I generally only bring five at a time in the kayak, but those five vary on what water I'm fishing. If I'm exploring new water, then it's: 6-3 MXF spinning with 6# fluoro: finesse 7' MM casting with 12# fluoro: general cranking 6-2 MXF with 30# Supercast: spinnerbaits, topwater, jerkbaits 7-3 HF with 50# braid and possibly a leader: jigs/T-rigs 7' MF with 15# fluoro: general purpose If I'm positive that I won't be fishing any deep clear water, then I'll sub a 6-8 MXF spinning rod with 20# braid and leader for finesse.
  19. @TOXIC I'm sure you know, but lots of repeated applications of peroxide will eventually kill the stuff. It's a pain, though.
  20. Ouch. That's pretty cold for that area.
  21. They're no magic bullet. I saw the Larry Dahlberg Hunt for Big Fish episodes where showed how he made the prototype, and I was pretty excited when R2S put it into production. I just haven't had the results that reflect the hype.
  22. I like Pad Crashers, the smaller Live Target frogs, and the weirdo Bassyriski.
