  1. Not at all. I fished it like that 30 years before it was called "drop shotting."
  2. You can drag your line through the grass, and reel back up through your fingers with a bit of pressure to relieve any twist. That's what I did when I didn't have a boat.
  3. For nearly a decade, I've used 6# Invisx. Three years ago, I tried 6# Tatsu, and I like that even better. I've just respooled 5 year old Invisx with the new Finesse 7.2 lb. line (same diameter as 6#), and so far it's a pretty good line. Many of the attributes of Tatsu, yet at a cost closer to Invisx. The only time I use braid and a leader for this is fishing weeds, or beds like in this article: https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot-bedding-bass.html Another video: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/how-to-dropshot-fishing.html Good luck with it. Here's a pic of my personal best smallmouth, caught on a drop shot Crosstail Shad. Finally, here's a great resource for getting started: http://www.richz.com/fishing/blog/?page_id=552
  4. Yeah, 12 year old thread...
  5. Florida tropical fish farmers have been selectively breeding "electric blue crawfish" for three decades or more. I have seen plenty local species with blue highlights.
  6. That's pretty heavy, large diameter line for a typical spinning rig. I fish cranks on a casting rig, with straight single filament line (mono, fluoro, or copoly) in 10-12# size. For spinning, I use 6# single filament line, or 15-20# braid tied direct or with a 6-8# leader. For the snaps question, I generally remove the split ring when using a Duo-Loc snap. I never use a snap-swivel. If you are going to tie direct, then leave the split ring. I would say roughly half my cranks are stored with a Duo-Loc already attached. Retie often.
  7. LMAO, nice! Another good one is to put the back graph in demo mode, then wake them up. I think the horn in the Bullet works as original, too. That's a '95.
  8. It's funny, as I can remember being the only non boater in a 20 boat field that could launch boats, on a busy ramp, so a few of us were launching boats into the lake, unmanned, just to make use of all 8 slots. Then we piled into on boat (piloted, of course) and ran out to the "floaters." It was pretty funny, and the Fed guys behind us were laughing, but appreciated the gesture, as they had over 100 to launch that day.
  9. I always have a whistle and an air horn in my safety kit. Actual boat horns are probably the fist thing to fail on almost every boat I've owned. I'd rather it be an option, and delete it from the build.
  10. Trolling motor training should suffice. At 12, I could commandeer a small tiller tin boat. Docking with a big motor can be daunting for even an adult, depending on conditions.
  11. It's been a wash for me on line. I just respooled one my DS rods that had Invisx on it for 5 seasons. I'm trying the new Finesse line they introduced. It says it's rated at 7.2, but it has the same diameter as 6#. I haven't tested the knot strength yet. But for what I do, I would have changed out the mono nearly a dozen times over, if that's what I was using. have some 10 and 12 lb. Tastu that's 3 seasons long on a couple of my cranking sticks. Looks and performs as good as new.
  12. I'm definitely not a jerk about things, but what I share is very situational.
  13. I have a bunch of the Chatterbaits, in several of their lines, and I haven't seen any issues. After several fish, some of the chatterbaits are beat up - especially of one of those fish is a pickerel or northern pike, but that's to be expected. Let them know what you're seeing.
  14. Every once in a while, I feel like I got a bad batch of hooks. Doesn't matter the brand - it's happened with a few. I toss them, buy fresh, and it seems like the issue goes away. Did you contact them, and let them know what's happening?
  15. Meh. I still use the same Improved Clinch, Palomar, and Uni I've always used. I Palomar on 6# Invisx gets about 6.5 lbs. before breaking. I can only imagine that follows up the chain with heavier lines. If anyone is interested in a premium mono offering, try Rippin'. 12 lb. size has been performing very well for medium and deep cranking.
  16. I've experimented with not wetting the line, but just slowly and carefully cinching the knot. No issues here.
  17. I prefer a brush jig in most other situations, but the arky defects off the branches in a unique way, that trigger strikes.
  18. Wood/timber baits for me: spinnerbait, squarebill, arky jig, pegged T-rig plastics.
  19. Glad you're okay. Cars can be replaced.
  20. Huh? I've never run into this with FC. Braid, yes. The only thing I run into is fishing jerkbaits in VERY cold water when I use long pauses, like over 30 seconds, and the line sinking. Normally, I use pop-pop-pop-drag, and wait about 10 seconds. No issues with that.
  21. It's fine for shallow and mid depths. Go thinner on deep divers.
  22. Nope, lake trout are open all year, three fish limit, any over 12".
  23. Why re-spool? Is there something you don't like? Don't fix something that works.
