  1. I use my SC 7' M/F for toad style plastic baits. It works great for this. I've also used it for hollow frogs in open water as well. It's not bad at all, especially around docks. The SC MH/F is a good choice for heavier weed cover with hollow bodies.
  2. The Xcalibur tungsten weights are pretty close to that size.
  3. That looks pretty cool. Here's the original thread. Normally, I wouldn't bring this back up, but her behavior was SO off the mark, it bears repeating. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/17299-prop-jig/?hl=+talon%20+lures
  4. Anytime I am using a straight shank hook, I snell it. Period. No matter the bait, line, or size hook. It's fast and easy to tie, and VERY secure.
  5. I haven't gotten my hands on a Lexa spinner. It was a little out of the price range, and since it's brand new, well, didn't want to recommend something I know nothing about. They do look pretty sweet.
  6. I personally would be looking for an aluminum boat. Some of these old glass boats can be more trouble than they're worth. Get a test drive on the water. Anything seems questionable, back away.
  7. That baby need a Hawgtech Handle!
  8. No, those are mine, lol.
  9. I love the idea of backing with whatever mono you have, and then wrapping that with tape. I'm putting that one in my back pocket. Great tip!
  10. If it's smallies you're after, I'd fish next door at Hemlock instead. Insane topwater action at dusk. Position your boat along the shore, in 50-60 FOW, and cast as far to shore as you can.
  11. I think they moved to so they would not have to compete with other big brand sports, like the NFL.
  12. LOL, I've been gong easy on the bacon!
  13. The cork work is outstanding. Very Nice!
  14. The Classic has been held in February since about 2006. Most northern lakes are frozen solid at that time of year, so southern waters it is. If they changed it to early fall, then northern lakes would be a great option.
  15. It really depends on the cover I'm fishing. Weeds: straight braid. Wood: Braid with a 12-15# CXX leader. Shoals with sparse over and clear water: 12-20# CXX or Fluoro. Deep, rocky cover: 12# CXX. When fishing wood, you can "measure" how close your bait is to hanging by feeling the Alberto knot cross a branch. Then it's a simple matter of slowly bringing he jig into contact, drop your rod tip a bit, and pop the jig over. Be prepared, as this often triggers strikes.Having the leader also helps with hangups. It's easier to break off, and not disturb the spot with all the commotion.

I use it a lot during pre spawn, with good results. I prefer spinner/blade baiting, but this works when it's a little bright and the fish don't want the flash.
  17. Guys, let's try to stay relevant here. It's a bass fishing site, after all.
  18. Those little suckers last forever. Good snag!
  19. Canadice, huh? Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! I'll put a PM together for you in the next day or so with some specifics on this lake.
