KVD is the greatest TOURNAMENT fisherman ever. A few years ago, right before a Classic, a very well know pro said that KVD is the only pro that is in every head of every guy in any given tournament.

For the life of me I can't remember the name but, years ago an older, long time BASS pro told us during a seminar when the same question was asked, that the toss and hitting the water disorients the fish. They found the fish recovered from the catch and release process better.

Yeah, I remember when I hit 200 posts. 20diggety2. See, we didn't have all of the number that you kids have today. We had to say diggety and everyone knew what we meant. Good times.

We fish with 13' and 16' cane poles. (fiberglass telescopic) the length of the rods are for reach. There it no casting. Even if you watch some videos of crappie fisherman with the long rods with reels, there is no real casting. The rods are out on a spread and resemble a spider on the water, hence, "spider rig". Reach out and cover water.
