  1. Congrats on the new PB & the weekend.
  2. I can feel your pain. Using 6lb nanofil for small fish might be ok but not my line of choice for a lunker.
  3. My first boat was a 18' Mr Pike with a Yamaha 150 4-SR at max power rating. My home lake is lake Erie and she can be a *****. Big waves closely stacked together is the norm. My current boat is a 20' starcraft stx 2050, a pro walleye boat like the lund pro v but with a deeper V and greater deadrise (19 degree). The 2050 has a 250 mercury pro xs 2-S also max power rating. Both boats average around 7-8 gallons a day with a lot of running from dock to fishing spots. So in my case the bigger boat with the bigger engine is safer when bad weather catches you off guard but delivers the same fuel ecnomy as the smaller boat. My starcraft weighs 1734lbs boat only dry weight. Big motor weighs 505lb plus a 9.9 kicker & everything else. For me the bigger boat is the right tool for the job.
  4. Roger I do not own a Dobyn rod but my Florida fishing buddy has several and he has had the same problem. He does use rod sleves and is careful with his equipment.
  5. Doesn't matter what it weighs max it out. Rule of thumb is go with the max hp and you will never regret it. It also helps with resale.
  6. Black Bone
  7. Call Shimano & ask them. 877 577 0600 Irvine California PST
  8. Nice one but I like the northern shape the best.
  9. Welcome. This site will help with the frustration level.
  10. I just looked up the Ontario fishing records. The current record for smallmouth bass was set in 1954. It weighed 9.84lbs & measured 24" long by 18.3" in girth.
  11. I have had two boats with vinyl flooring rather than carpet. It is not slippery when wet. Easy wash down & maintenance.
  12. Is there a picture of the angler who caught the fish holding the fish? I didn't see it on Facebook.
  13. That calculator is not very accurate. It always weighs high. I have taken numerous length x girth measurements with digital scales & boga scale weights & it always weighs above the actual weight. Example my pb largemouth was 26.5" long by 19" girth & weighed 11lbs-2 oz. The weight calculator puts it at 13lbs-1oz. My pb smallmouth was 22.5" x 17" and weighed 7lbs-6oz. the calculator puts it at 8lbs-7oz.
  14. Yes seats & pedestals in place. On my boat it takes a lot of effort to remove them so I don't think they are going anywhere except along for the ride.
  15. It would have to be 8 to 9 lbs if measured correctly.
  16. A win is a win. WTG guys.
  17. Sweet chunk.
  18. PB's are always sweet.
  19. Your late to the party Shane I saw that on facebook two days ago. Congrats on that $150 fish buddy.
  20. Probably announced on Sunday. They are almost always the last to announce their sales.
  21. I remember my first big bass very well. A buddy & I were rowboat trolling an Akron Ohio reservoir (mogadore) which did not allow any gas motors. We were actually trolling for musky. I was using a large brass june bug spinner with a single hook & a trailing night crawler because I had read that lots of muskies are caught by live bait fisherman using night crawlers. When I got hit I thought it was a musky but when it jumped I knew it was a bass. She weighed 5.25 lbs which was a really big bass for these two teenagers. That PB bass record didn't get broken until 30 some years later.
  22. Great video. I loved the part when your wife said hang on to him as he was looking over the side.
  23. Glad it worked out for you & your family Stitch.
