My PB was 10.2 caught on a 3/4 oz lipless SK red eye shad. Depth was 12-15 feet off a point.

If your fishing big rock like the great lakes you might want to try a 18" drop so the bait isn't hidden by the rock.

Inline spinner bait like a blue fox vibrax if he wants to cast & reel. Cut off the treble hook add a split ring & a single hook like a spinner bait trailer hook. It will catch all species. You could also try a senko wacky rigged.
