  1. @steelheader316 are you fishing Dworshak reservoir or Lake Pend Oreille? They both have stellar reputations for big smallies.
  2. I will go up one size when replacing stock hooks.
  3. Call an exterminator if you have carpenter ants. They are destructive like termites for destroying wood framing once established.
  4. Evergreen makes a good with killer sticky hooks.
  5. Black at night & low light is the tradition but sometimes it works well any time. If you want to keep it simple there are only two primary colors; black and white. But like Catt said a little orange on the throat or belly helps.
  6. When I needed to take a pic by myself I used a simple tripod with my phone & a Bluetooth shutter. Look in my right hand & it’s visible in my palm. The little hand held shutter gives you plenty of time to take the pic after checking the focus.
  7. Welcome to BR.
  8. @fin the reason people walk the dog with a frog is to duplicate the action of a spook without the constant snagging that comes with treble hook baits in vegetation. They are not trying to duplicate actual frog behavior.
  9. Congrats on the new PB.
  10. Got out on Lake Okeechobee fishing the rim canal this morning from 6:30 to 11:00 am. Four guys fishing from two boats having a mini tournament. Biggest fish won with the losing boat buying lunch. So all I fished was a 6” Bucca shad hoping to get the winner. Caught three nice ones on it. Other fish came on a top water spook & frog. Brett & I ate good.
  11. Prespawn spring April/May on lake Erie.
  12. @813basstard Born & raised in Ohio always have been & will be a OSU fan. No interest in the gators but if interested in any Florida team it would be the FSU or the Canes. Glad I annoy you it makes my day.
  13. I would much rather watch college football than the NFL so I'll be pulling for Ohio State even though I'm a fulltime Florida cracker now.
  14. I always pick local over a chain but the one that stands out as really bad is the already mentioned Outback Steakhouse.
  15. Well since the Cleveland Indians lost their rightful name & their b-lls & became the Guardians I lost my interest in baseball. So I'll vote for the Super Bowl.

Welcome to BR from another Floridian.
  17. I don't really think about it. When your time comes it comes.
  18. When casting near the pump head look for the rope or line that secures it to the bank for maintenance. I have snagged a few & it's a pain when you do.
  19. Welcome to BR.
  20. Glad you made it.
  21. Morning sunrise over the Atlantic.
  22. My take on the subject is it’s all about the action of some baits more than any other variables like color or sound. When you find a particular bait that HUNTS it will be a killer bait. What I’m talking about is the irregular action of certain baits. A bait that swims along then suddenly kicks out to the side left or right will get bit. It’s like a bait deflecting off the bottom or other cover. That sudden irregular movement is what triggers bites. Certain baits when trolled or retrieved will veer left then right like walk the dog but under water. That is a big trigger. Some of the best hunting lures have line ties that require bending or straightening to fine tune them. Lots of anglers do not like them because they require frequent tuning to keep them working properly. An good example is a Luhr Jensen hot N tot. Killer baits for almost all species. They have a metal lip with an extended built-in line tie.
