  1. Chinese knock-off? Wouldn't the first time someone bought a knock-off on Ebay.
  2. All of the Diamond Shads shown in the '09 Strike King catalog have the diamond pattern on the sides. Quote from the catalog: "Unique Diamond sculpted body is what makes the Diamond Shad so special."
  3. You could start with one of these... It's slotted for the hook and everything. ;D
  4. The Premier is still made in the US. The Triumph (which used to be made in China) and the Mojo are built in Mexico.
  5. Just trying to be helpful. FWIW, my experience with Pinnacle products, though limited, has been positive. I can't say the same for some of the other, more well-known brands.
  6. I found J Francho's hat... http://www.fishingworld.com/DuncanEnterprises/Details.tmpl?ID=12197744674972462&Cart=126814504593430862
  7. Pinnacle1, don't take this the wrong way, but relax a bit. This is a very laid-back, casual forum. It's not necessary to answer every question in a way that sounds like you cut/paste it straight out of a product brochure.
  8. Personally, I'd pass on any reel with a gimmicky lever/dial/roller and look for one with a proven, reliable braking system and an aluminum frame. You didn't mention what your budget is, but based on the reels you asked about, I'm going to assume $60-$70. A brand new aluminum framed reel in that range may not be easy to find, but there are usually tons of used examples in that price range.
  9. The only one of the reels mentioned that I have any experience with is the "standard" Megaforce. I bought one shortly after they came out, used it maybe 7 or 8 times, and sold it here in the Flea Market. It had quite a whine/howl during casting, the drag required readjustment after every cast, twitching bar is nothing but a gimmick and is almost completely useless in heavy weeds, and it's built on a graphite frame. It's an okay reel, I suppose, but I think you can do better in that price range.
  10. The initial reviews for the Mojo were fantastic, but after a full season the "real" reviews started to appear. We may not have to wait a full season for the Carbonlite. ;D
  11. My skills as a translator are somewhat lacking, but I believe my rewrite to be fairly close...
  12. Last summer I was kayak fishing at Watts Bar, in the rain. Made a backhanded cast to my right and my Patriarch/Kistler crankbait combo slipped out of my hand. Luckily it: a) Didn't go far and Was sinking very slowly I managed to paddle over to it and yank it out of the water before it sank out of sight...and without tipping the yak over in the process. Normally I keep my rods tethered to the yak when fishing, but not that day. :-[
  13. I don't keep them long enough to worry about it.
  14. x2 except I would prefer a 7' rod x3, but with a 6'9" to 6'10" rod.
  15. According to SC's catalog, the glass rods are mod-fast action and the graphite rods are moderate action. The glass rods are also quite a bit heavier, again, according to SC's catalog. http://stcroixrods.com/product/premier-casting
  16. One of the funniest things I've read on here in a long time.
  17. Probably a silly question, but are you left handed? A 201DHSV would be a left handed reel. Sometimes people who have never owned Shimano reels don't understand their model numbers...
  18. lol pm me if you're serious, i'd like to get back into it. Or anything good for largemouth that can be thrown on a 7/8wt.
  19. That was my first baitcaster. It never gave me a minute of trouble. Admittedly I didn't keep it very long, but for the few months I owned it, it was flawless.
  20. Hoping to catch another monster like this one... If I succeed, I'll probably have it mounted...or put on a key chain or something.
  21. The 2010 catalog is about a year old already. The PDF version I have was created in May '09. It's entirely possible that the reel has been discontinued since the catalog was produced. I'm not saying the salesman is right, I'm just pointing out that he may not be wrong.
  22. This will save you $10 off an internet purchase of $50 or more... www.basspro.com/fishdeal Expires 3/17/10
  23. I'd say neither. Personally I'd look for a Pflueger Arbor 7430. It has the body of a UL/L class reel with the spool diameter of a 2500-series Symetre. You get the light weight of a compact reel without the line twist problems that go along with small diameter spools. There are few on Ebay right now for about $70, but you can pick one up for a little less if you're patient. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PFLUEGER-7430-Arbor-Spinning-Reel_W0QQitemZ230445105261QQ
  24. Yeah, that dude really doesn't have a clue. : http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20333&id=0043073121539a&navCount=5&podId=0043073&parentId=cat20333&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IA&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true I'd go with the 35. I have one in the bigger 40 size for throwing things on a 8' spinning rod across the lake or river into the next county, and people don't realize how very light these reels are comparative to their size. Great, great reels for the money. I wouldn't be so quick to dimiss him as being clueless. Pflueger already has replacements for both the Supreme and the President. The Supreme XT and President XT have been out a while now and appear to be selling fairly well, so why wouldn't they discontinue the older models?
  25. The Supreme is a light reel and a 6'10" spinning rod will most likely be a bit tip-heavy, so I'd go with the larger 35-series reel to help balance the combo.
