Professions???
Full-time student and full-time welder at one of the cheapest companies I've ever had the misfortune to step foot in. > [rant] The crowded job market has allowed companies to lower their wages to absolutely ridiculous levels. It doesn't matter how low they go, the companies know some poor SOB will take the job if you don't. Want to know why the unemployment rate in GA is over 10%? It's because Unemployment pays more than most of the available jobs. [/rant] Sorry about that. Got a little bit of pent up frustration... :-[

Question on this website
If you go to the bottom of the main forum page ( http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl ), there's a section labeled "Forum Statistics". In that section there is a little drop down box that will allow you to "View the (10, 20, 30, 40, 50) most recent posts of this forum." That's about as close as you're gonna get to a "See All New Posts" button, though.

Cleaning Cork On Handles? THE RESULTS ARE IN. THE MAGIC ERASER IS AMAZING!!!
It will also remove magic marker from the top of your white kitchen table...and leave a nice circular dull spot in its place. It does work well, but it's definitely not great on every surface. Might work well on the kids though...

Cleaning Cork On Handles? THE RESULTS ARE IN. THE MAGIC ERASER IS AMAZING!!!
From what I can tell after having used them on numerous surfaces, they're basically a soft block of fine rubbing compound. They can and will scratch the crap out of softer surfaces, so don't use them on anything that may be easily scratched. They do a darn fine job on cork handles though, don't they?

Paypal question...
It's a violation of most credit card companies' "Merchant's User Agreement" to charge buyers a surcharge for using a credit card, and in some states it's also against the law. Why should the buyer be expected to cover the seller's expenses? Should the buyer also be expected to reimburse the seller for the gas used to deliver the package to the post office or the ink used to print a shipping label? If they're that worried about their profit, they should figure that expense into their asking price.
-
Paypal question...
Correct, but I don't believe "gift" transactions offer the same protection for the buyer. Technically, you can pay by Money order if you don't want to add that 3%-4% PP fee.Why should the seller take that lost if he doesn't want to?It's convenience for you to just pay "paypal" and not have to worry about sending a money order through mail that could very well get lost. I'll pay the 3% if that's what the seller request(for my protection),otherwise I'll ask if he'll take a money order or just altogether turn down the deal. I usually eat the cost when i sell something...so that's why you never see me selling much of anything, unless I'm just getting rid of it to make room for something else. Bingo. I'll typically pay via USPS money order, and when I sell something I eat the Paypal costs for the convenience of being able to accept CC payments.

pflueger arbor ?
Ah, a man after my own heart. I have one of my Symetres on a 6'8" M/XF Avid, and it really doesn't get much better than that, imho. The other is on a 6'6" M/F Shimano Crucial, and it's also nice, but I find that I just prefer the feel of St. Croix rods in general.

pflueger arbor ?
For anyone who may be following this or contemplating a Pflueger Arbor, the diameter of the spool on the 30 size is 1.345" and the Shimano Symetre 2500FI stock spool is 1.265" That's probably not enough of a difference in spool diameter to make the swap worthwhile. It would probably make a good trout reel, though, so I may wind up keeping it anyway. Also, the body size of the Arbor "30" is very close to the size of a Daiwa Regal 1000Xi. Very, very compact.

Paypal question...
Actually, I steer clear of sellers that request the buyer pay an additional 3-4% to cover the PP fees. Imho, that's the seller's cost of doing business. I only brought it up as it seems to be an increasing trend, and I don't think many of the buyers have put any thought into the security of these types of transactions.
-
Paypal question...
I've seen for sale posts (on this forum and others) where the seller requests payment thru PP using the "gift" option. I know this saves the seller a little bit of money on the transaction, but what kind of protection does this offer the buyer? How can you file a complaint that you never received your goods when you gave the "seller" a gift of $X?

Frog fishing And Spinning Reel?
I used a Sahara 4000FB and 50# PowerPro for a little while without a problem. FWIW, the drag on a spinning reel of that size can be more powerful than most stock baitcast reels. I believe it was about 17# on that Sahara.

How far can a baby poop?
That is an extremely wise decision. Never, ever stand in front of a loaded gun. may work for girls but a little boys water wiggle goes 360 Yup. As soon as the cool air hits that thing, it'll start spraying everywhere. We kept a supply of washcloths on the changing table to cap the geysers.

Pflueger Trion GX-7 Spinning Reel
I picked up a couple on the Flea Market a little while ago, but haven't had a chance to try them out yet. They're surprisingly smooth, but I'm definitely not digging the rosewood handle. Something will have to be done about that if I decide to keep them.

pflueger arbor ?
So it showed up yesterday afternoon, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It's nice and smooth, in typical Pfluger fashion, but the size has me a bit puzzled. It's only available in two sizes, a 30 and a 40. I ordered the 30 thinking it would be the best size/weight (8.5 oz) for 6-8# line on a M or ML rod, but it actually seems a bit small for that. The 40 weighs in at a bit over 11 oz., which is too heavy for my needs. The body appears to be similar in size to a 1500-series Shimano which is cool, but the spool really doesn't seem much wider than the ones on my Symetre 2500FIs. :-/ I'll have to dig out the calipers and compare the two, but the Arbor's spool is definitely smaller than I was expecting.

new BPS carbonlite rods LOL
Actually the guides on those CarbonLite rods are pretty expensive. The reason you see so many mid/upper end rods moving away from Fuji guides is not because of expense, it's because of availability. Fuji requires orders WAY in advance, and is notoriously difficult to work with. They can slap whatever price tag on them they choose. From a manufacturing standpoint, they're just stamped stainless guides with a roll-formed, plated metal insert. Nothing special, and far from high-end. The PVD coating adds to the cost, but is most likely necessary to keep the insert from grooving for the duration of the rod's one-year warranty...although that may fall under "normal wear and tear". I'll go on record now, and predict that these guides fare no better than the ones currently in use on the Carrot Stix. You seem to be pretty sure. I'd be willing to bet you $100 if you actually are that sure. Of course you should know I've already seen 3rd party testing results for a bunch of rods (including these and original Carrot Stix) where extensive strength tests & durability tests were conducted. I also know that Stacey King has been using CarbonLite rods for almost a year, and has had no issues despite being very rough on them. And the inserts on original Carrot Stix are chrome plated steel. The inserts on CarbonLites are PVD coated titanium-carbide. PM me to work out the details of the bet. If I wanted to wager $100 on the longevity of the guides, I would just buy a Carbonlite rod and use it for a season. I honestly don't care enough to bother. I have no interest in the Carbonlite rods, and definitely no interest in the PacBay guides it's currently sporting. I offered an opinion on the rods and guides in question, and made a prediction. If that somehow offends you, I honestly don't care. You're free to offer contrary prediction, if you'd like. Welcome to America.

Doh!I Hate Ordering Online!
I did and didnt see anything, but didnt think anything of it because it was my first time ordering with TW Depending on your internet provider, you may not get a confirmation email. Comcast sometimes lables their emails as spam, and trashes them before they make it to your inbox.

new BPS carbonlite rods LOL
I'm thinking that once people actually get a chance to use these rods for a while, they won't be quite as appealing as they seem online. Yes, they're light...but one of the reasons they're so light is the cheap guides they're using. They appear to be the same ones used on $20 Berkley Cherrywoods, Lightning Rod, Carrot Stix, and a few of BPS's cheaper rods like the Micro Lite. Imho, a $100 rod ought to be sporting Hardloys, at least.

That's why I love watching him on TV. He strikes me as someone who genuinely loves fishing, and would be out there doing it whether they paid him or not.

pflueger arbor ?
So, has anybody bought one yet? I'm this ---->||<---- close to ordering one in the smaller size. I mean, how bad can it be? The reels on either side of it in their lineup are both solid performers.
