  1. I believe Shimano owns GLoomis.
  2. It really boils down to what you're looking to catch. I'm out to catch bass, regardless of the size, so I spend more time with a 6'6" or 6'8" spinning rig, 8# line, and 4" worm than anything else. The pond where I've been fishing for the past several months is fairly well stocked with 1-2 lb LMs and heavily fished, so I bring gear suited to finicky bass in that size range. Your local pond/lake may be different. I'd rather spend a day catching several smaller fish, than spend a day unsuccessfully trying to catch a lunker.

While the collection of like-new rods and reels might raise an eyebrow, I don't find the boxes of soft plastics to be all that unusual. I, for one, pick up a few packs of my favorite plastics whenever I happen to hit the mall where the Atl. BPS is located. It doesn't take all that long to wind up with boxes full of unopened packs in my favorite colors. I've also been unemployed for the past 9 months, so I've had plenty of time to hit the clearance sections of most of my local retailers and "load up" on things that I will use...someday.

He got busted back in May for "Theft of Property" ( http://justice.dentoncounty.com/isapi/UVlink.isa/dentonco/WEBSERV/JailSearch?action%253Dview%26track%253D236420225 ) so I'm quite sure the PD already knew what he was doing, and have been compiling evidence for quite a while. They didn't just pluck that $19K figure out of the air. As far as the store being partly to blame because they minimum-wage cashier didn't question the clearance prices, that's absolutely ridiculous. My local BPS, for example, has hundreds of rods in stock at any given time with prices ranging from ~$20 to over $400. Do you really expect the teenage girl behind the register to be able to tell the difference between the highest and lowest price rods when half of the members here couldn't do it if you covered the rod's brand label? Now, think about the thousands of other items these retailers stock and the different price ranges. Do you think your wife/mom/daughter/grandmother/aunt could tell the difference between a $15 LC and a $2 Matzuo? I highly doubt it.
  5. Not a lot of tackle storage in his new "house" ;D
  6. x2 Relatively inexpensive, no registration required, easy to carry, and can go places even a tiny john boat can't squeeze into.
  7. Nice stuff Rooster, but I'm seeing some empty spaces in those Plano boxes. I have several Rooster Tails, but the only thing I've ever caught on them is weeds. They're like miniature rakes or tiny little Garden Weasels, yanking out every plant in the lake.
  8. From what I've seen in the past year or so, the red ones are sometimes cheaper or on clearance. I picked up a couple packs of BPS "pear head" spiral lock jig heads with red hooks the other day for $1.77 each when the regular hook models were about $3 a pack.
  9. It could be the older Tour Edition PT KVD spinnerbait rod (PTC6106FKV). If so, it's an excellent rod and a heck of a bargain @ $80 on Ebay. I have one paired with a Curado 200e7 and couldn't be happier with the combo.
  10. For open water or from the shore, I use a 6'10" MH/MF Quantum Tour PT (PTC6106FKV) with a Curado 200e7 spooled with 12# Sufix Elite. For tighter quarters, I use a 6'6" MH/F Avid with a Pflueger Patriarch 64WLP spooled with 12# Sufix Elite.
  11. x2 I looked at Colt, Bushmaster, and DPMS when I bought mine back in '02 (during the AWB), and the DPMS had the best fit/finish of them all. I've put several thousand rounds through mine in the past 7 years, without a single malfunction. I've "tarted" it up a bit since then, but the important pieces are still DPMS. When the time came to build rifles for my three boys, I went with Doublestar lowers and all DPMS internals. Excellent finish (teflon coated, like DPMS) and everything fit perfectly.

x2 I told the doctor to just cut me open and take out whatever the hell it was that was causing the pain. The worst pain I've ever felt. Another x2. I spent a couple days peeing thru a strainer so they could analyize the little wretched. It was calcium and sodium, a combination of too many Cokes and vending machine sandwiches.
  13. x2 While it may not cast light lures quite as well the Patriarch, it still casts very well. I have mine on a 7' Kistler Magnesium TS crankbait rod and have no trouble launching lipless cranks a very respectable distance.
  14. I have a bunch of Gammy, Owner, and Mustad EWG hooks, but I use more BPS "Wide Superlock" and "Offset O'Shaughnessy" hooks than anything else. They come in packs of 20-25 for about $5, which is good for me since I don't reuse them. That said, I still buy the other brands when I find them on sale/clearance. I rarely use them, but I buy them anyway.
  15. How much money do you suppose the tabloids would pay me if I claim that I slept with him, too? ;D
  16. Otherwise, if he is like me, a kit would suck. More importantly, the components probably don't compare to name brand spinnerbaits. As suggested earlier, the 3/4 oz Ledgebuster is the BOMB! RW makes a pretty good point. If you think your boyfriend would enjoy building spinnerbaits, why not buy him a gift certificate to someplace like Jann's Netcraft and left him choose his own components? http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fisherman-gifts/GIFT.aspx
  17. Thanks. I don't typically keep gear very long, so I'm extremely careful with it to make sure I minimize the depreciation. As a matter of fact, there are two rods in that pic that'll wind up in the Flea Market shortly after Xmas.
  18. Here's mine. Nothing too flashy or high-end, but functional. From L-R: 6'6" MH/F Johnny Morris Signature Series spinning rod - no reel at the moment 6'6" M/F St. Croix Triumph - Mitchell 308Xe (my travel/trunk combo) 6'6" M/F Shimano Crucial - Shimano Symetre 2500FI 6'8" M/XF St. Croix Avid - Shimano Symetre 2500FI 6'6" MH/F St. Croix Avid - Pflueger Patriarch 64WLP 6'10" MH/MF Quantum Tour Edition PT Signature Series KVD spinnerbait - Shimano Curado 200E7 7' M/MF Kistler Magnesium TS Alton Jones Crankbait Special (composite) - Pflueger Asaro WLP I have several more around here, but the rest are mostly panfishing/ultralight setups.
  19. I think you'll find very few people who will put the Mojo in the same class as the Crucial. Compre perhaps, but not the Crucial.
  20. Looks like something my lazy-*** mailman would do. Hell, he wouldn't even get out of the little truck to set my packages on the doorstep. He'd just lean out the side of the truck and toss them into my garage door. >
  21. Quantum products get a bad rap around here, but some of their higher-end rods are actually very nice. I have the 6'10" Tour Edition PT Signature Series KVD spinnerbait rod (PTC6106FKV), and it's just fantastic. They were originally about $200, TW has them on sale for about $140, and Simmons has some on Ebay for about $100 shipped. Well worth the money, especially if you buy it from Simmons. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCQUANTUM-QSSCR.html
  22. x2 I've been using the Crucial CRS66M for the past couple years for those applications and it's been working great. I don't think you'll get the MH model to load up properly with 1/16 to 3/8 oz lures, which will effect your casting distance. I've recently switched from the Crucial to a 6'8" M/XF St. Croix Avid (AVS68MXF, I believe) and find that I really prefer the faster tip for weightless plastics. I also find the Avid's handle more comfortable. I don't think there's any difference between the two when it comes to sensitivity, though.
  23. I use the Palomar for everything but spinnerbaits. For those I use the San Diego Jam Knot. For me, it's just faster and easier to tie on bulky baits.

You've lost me. I've handled 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen Glocks but I've never seen anything like what you're talking about, nor can I find any info on it. How long ago was this? I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm genuinely curious.

What safety on the tang? The only external safety on a Glock is the little lever on the trigger.
