Pflueger Supreme vs Supreme XT??
I've been eyeballin' both of them for a while now, and will probably pick one up in the next couple weeks. It'll probably be the "standard" Supreme because the color is a better match for the St. Croix logo on my Avids and I like the little dimples on the spool around the drag knob. Silly, I know.

Berkley Bionix Rods
I don't think they make them anymore. They were made back in the 80s. Are you sure these were Berkley Bionix? If they have a secret stash of them. I'd for one would like to know. I see them in my local Walmarts from time to time.

Michell 310XGE
I have a Mitchell 308Xe on my "travel" rod and it has been problem free. Although, I haven't had a reason to swap spools so that may change.

what's best to cast w/baitcaster?
You can cast whatever you want on either setup, but I prefer baitcasting for spinnerbaits, cranks, and chatterbait-type lures. I use a spinning setup for just about everything else.

Short Sale Property/Landlord
This is especially true if you're still making payments on the property, or can't afford the mortgage payments if the tenant(s) refuse to pay. It can take several months to get them out, meanwhile you're steadily losing money. Then, to top it all off, they do a ton of damage on their way out. Since renters typically don't own anything, good luck getting any money out of them. Taking them to court and getting a judgement against them doesn't mean you'll get paid, either. Been there, done that. Never again. >

American Chopper is no more
Senior openly admitted in an interview several years ago that he would put the OCC name and/or logo on pretty much anything, as long as it made him some money. Since he couldn't predict how long their popularity would last, he was going to make as much money as he possibly could while it lasted. Good riddance.

Pistol Holster (concealed)
x2 The FLETCH is a nice holster, but I'm not a big fan of thumbreaks. I chose the Galco Concealable instead. Rides nice and high, disappears under a t-shirt, and is extremely comfortable.

Progressive auto Ins
I used to have Progressive on two cars, a truck, and my motorcycle and everything was fine...until I got hit by an illegal alien and they totaled my car. Since they couldn't go after the other driver, they decided to slip me the big green weenie instead. It took several weeks to reach an agreement on my car's value that was even remotely close to what a comparable car would cost, with me having to provide receipts for everything that had been done to the car in the past year (including $3K worth of motor), and then they used that info against me when I tried to buy the car back. When it was all said and done, I walked away with a totaled car and a little less than $2K to find a suitable body to stick my motor in. Even though I felt like I got screwed, they were still the cheapest around so I kept them for another couple years. In this time my rates went up every six months, for no apparent reason. When I called to complain about the rate increase and how I felt they had screwed me over my only accident, I was told, and this is a direct quote, "Well, you keep coming back." I canceled my insurance with them that day, and switched to Geico. They were more expensive, but I don't care. It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever use Progressive again. I'd rather drive without insurance.

citrus sticks???
Man, I thought the orange ones were bad. Those Citrus-thingies are painfully ugly.

Float-n-fly
I looked at that kit, but it's just a dozen jigs, a couple floats, and a tube of Fish Dope in a plastic box for $35. If you add up the retail prices of all of the individual items you come up with...wait for it...$35! : Definitely no bargain there.

Question for Pfleuger owners
The Arbor 7430 is tiny. Much, much smaller than I had expected.

Question for Pfleuger owners
That's one of my only complaints about Pflueger's spinning reels. It makes it difficult to order them online because I'm never sure how big they really are. :-/

fishing on beans and a knife
I must be really tired, because that made me lol. ;D

Float-n-fly
Yeah. Nothing like taking a form of fishing that an 8 year old can do and making it quantum physics Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to go buy some $500.00 Float-n-Fly sunglasses to see my $15.00 float........ You ought to know by now that this hobby is more fashion show than sport. It's all about the gear.

Float-n-fly
I don't use the fish dope myself but all my freinds swear by it. The problem with vasoline is it is almost to thin like a liquid and not a soft solid so it don't last a long time or stay on as well. Something more like a wax like chapstick would do it though. I usually have some chapstick in my pocket anyway in winter. I do too, but I don't think the bass will appreciate the "medicated" version. ;D

I told him to come pick it up.
It's probably not as durable as a Shimano either ;D I give it less than a season before the finish starts flaking off.

Spinning rod for trout?
I have a little UL that I use for bream and bluegill when I feel like killing some time, but it's really too short to get any distance on a cast. I have a few spinning rigs already... 5' UL Eagle Claw "Featherlight" with a Daiwa Regal 100Xi 7' ML BPS Micro Lite with a Pflueger Trion GX-7 (4730) 8'6" ML BPS Micro Lite (Float and Fly) with a Pflueger Trion GX-7 (4735) 6'6" M/F St. Croix Triumph with a Mitchell 308Xe 6'6" M/F Shimano Crucial with a Symetre 2500FI 6'8" M/XF St. Croix Avid with a Symetre 2500FI I'm sure a couple of these could be used for trout, but I have a brand new Pflueger Arbor sitting here that needs a home. I guess the only power that's really missing from my collection is a L, so maybe that's what I should go with. :-/ I already have the reel spooled with 6# mono, which falls right in the middle of the L rating (4-8).

Spinning rod for trout?
I had thought about going UL, but there are also small spotted bass and the occasional shoal bass in these same waters so I think it may be best to stick with a ML or L (since St. Croix rods tend to be a bit stiffer than some other brands)

Spinning rod for trout?
I've never fished for trout, but I have a nice little spinning reel sitting here in need of a new rod so now seems like a good time to start. What length, power, and action should I be looking at? I was thinking maybe something along the lines of a 6'6" L or ML St. Croix Premier or Triumph? Just how important is sensitivity in a trout rod? :-/

Float-n-fly
Randall, you seem to be fairly knowledgeable on this subject so please give me your $.02 on the use of Punisher's Fish Dope. Does it really make a difference? I see that it's used to form the hairs into the shape of a minnow, but wouldn't plain petroleum jelly do the same thing?

Float-n-fly
According to the St. Croix catalog, MSRP for that "special" rod is $200. While I am a big fan of SC rods, I passed on the big buck rod in favor of a 8'6" ML BPS Micro Lite "Float and Fly" model for $50. It has those flimsy all-metal guides that I despise, but I'm not really worried about the longevity of the guides on a $50 rod. I've got it paired with one of the two Pflueger Trion GX-7s that I picked up in the Flea Market for $45 shipped. I've also got a bunch of jigs on the way from NorthStar Custom Baits for $1.70 each, which I think is a fair price for hand-tied jigs. Throw in some modified Walmart floats, and my total investment in this technique-specific setup is less than $100. I don't think that's too bad at all.

Float-n-fly
How can anybody watch this and not pick up a 8'+ rod and a few flies...
-
Holy smokes I found him!
I thought the purpose of the Witness Protection Program was to prevent "fishing trips".

The bait monkey ain't just about baits.
I've already bought all the stuff I think I'm going to need for this spring and summer, and I'm buying stuff for next winter...or this winter if it stays cool enough. I'm dying to try out my new float'n'fly setup...

Revo SX vs. BPS Pro Qualifier
The main problems with the JM Sig are the size and weight. The ones I've handled are really smooth and I'm sure they'll cast and retrieve just fine, but they are substantially larger and slightly heavier than the PQ. They just don't seem to fit the hand (my hand, anyway) as well as the PQ.
