BPS lures? No sale?
If I remember correctly, the online sales start later than the in-store sales. They may even start the week after the in-store sales end.

Thoughts on Lamiglas Excel Spinning Rod???
It's interesting to me that you'd skip the St. Croix Premier which is comparable to the Shimano Compre and jump straight to the Avid. Is there a reason?

Disability Insurance
When it comes to matters of disability, either short-term or long-term, the best advice I can give is to talk to an attorney who specializes in disability cases. The insurance companies don't want to pay, and you can easily lose everything you own before ever seeing a single cent from them.

Is it worth it?
x2 I had both at one time. The Citica is long gone yet the Curado remains.

LMBO!!!!!!!
I don't care what rod I was holding, I'd be using it to whip the crap out of that bird.

I bought a cheap rod today
I'm of the opinion that the Mojo is aleady overpriced. It's built in the same factory and on the same blank as the $70 Triumph, but has less than 1/2 the cork. Where does the extra $30 come from? Maybe purple paint is more expensive than black?

Shimano Crucial sensitivity compared to...
I've owned both, and I prefer the Avid by far. The Crucial is a nice rod, and pretty sensitive, but the 6'6" MF spinning rod I owned (past tense) was too soft to get a decent hookset sometimes. I don't have that problem with any of my St. Croix rods. I also prefer the grip of the Avid as well. The shape fits my hand better and the cork seems to be of a higher quality with less filler.

spincast reels
I think you will be hard pressed to find a better spincaster, at any price. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewzebcoomega.html

SCORE!!! Free St. Croix Triumph rod!!
I have the same rod in a two-piece version that I use as my "trunk rod". It stays in my truck/car along with a small assortment of lures and soft plastics. It's actually a decent rod, especially for free. I had to pay full retail for mine, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Producto plastics
My father gave me his tackle box several months ago, and one of the things I found in there was a topwater snake from Producto with a large hollow head (aluminum?), a wide gap hook, and a soft plastic tail that's curled up like a pecan roll. I think it's called a Water-Moc, or something like that. It's the only Producto product I've ever seen in person. My father hasn't fished since some time in the mid-late eighties, so there's no telling how old this thing is, but the soft plastic tail is still nice and soft and not distorted.

Colt Commander: Before and After
Watch those shock buffers on short slide pistols like Commanders and Officer models. The slide action is already so short that the shock buffer will limit slide travel to the rear and cause feed and/or ejection problems. Been there, done that. They're a neat idea, but completely unnecessary imo. Definitely not recommended for a carry piece, either. Other than that, nice looking gun.

Does anybody else use bps hooks
I've been using their hooks for the past couple years now with no complaints. The price is pretty hard to beat and the Atlanta BPS is about 15 miles from my house, so I don't have to pay shipping.

spincast reels
In our assortment of tackle in the shop, there are (2) 202's, (2) 33's, (1) 33 Platinum, and (1) Omega Z03. The Omega is in a different class entirely, no doubt about it, but the 33 Platinum is no slouch either. It's an excellent caster, and performs better in every way then the standard 33. As a matter of fact, I'd advise against the standard 33 in pretty much any situation. The two we have are junk, imo. For the money, they're no better than the 202. Have you thought about stepping him up to a spinning rig? In general, spinning reels are easier to detangle, and the money spent on a decent spincast reel could typically buy a higher quality spinning reel. I bought my two oldest boys (7 & 10) spinning rigs last year and had far fewer line tangle problems than we ever had with their spincast setups.

pflueger patriarch v pflueger president
I have the Patriarch and absolutely love it, but I very rarely use the magnetic brake. If you don't need the mag brake, or aren't concerned with the durability of the reel's finish, save yourself some $$ and pick up a President. Either way, do yourself a favor and buy it on Ebay. You should be able to find a Patriarch for sale at the President's price.

Wally-world Clearance
Hit one on the way home from class and picked up a couple packs of maribou jigs for $1 each (not a big savings, but I would've bought them anyway), some misc. flies for $.50 a pack, and some Lake Fork Magic Shads for $.75 a pack. They had a ton of stuff on clearance, but the majority of it was stuff I'd never use. They had a bunch of Stanley spinnerbaits for $2 each, but I already have at least 30 brand new spinnerbaits that I picked up during their last clearance blow-out for $1 each or less. Don't really need any more.

berkely amp rods any reviews or personal experience with them
BPS had been doing an over the counter replacement for quite a while. It's one the main reasons I chose the Crucial over the Avid, since the Atlanta BPS is about 15 miles from my house. My issue with the Crucial wasn't due to damage or breakage. It had a void in the cork that had started to collapse, leaving a hole in the grip. It's a material defect, but not necessarily Shimano's fault. The runaround I got at BPS wasn't Shimano's fault either, but when taking care of warranty issues through a vendor becomes a hassle I'll take my business elsewhere.

berkely amp rods any reviews or personal experience with them
x2 Same blank as the Mojo and Premier, but only $70. It's lacking the "lifetime" warranty of the Shimanos in that price range, but after dealing with the Atlanta BPS over the warranty on my Crucial this past weekend, I know I won't be buying any more Shimano rods. According to them, the lifetime warranty is now a 1 yr over the counter replacement. After that, it has to be shipped back to Shimano on your dime. To me, the over the counter replacement was the best part of buying a Shimano rod. Without that, they're no better than any of the other rods in their respective price ranges. I'm sticking with St. Croix from now on.

Ultralight Reel?
I have a Pflueger Arbor 7430 on my lite setup. It has the body size and weight of a 1000-series reel with the spool diameter of a 2500-series reel. Have it on a 6' lite St. Croix Premier for trout and it balances nicely. I have a Daiwa Regal 1000Xi on my UL setup and it has a spool the size of a thimble. The line comes off in a nice tight coil, like a slinky. :

St. Croix Mojo Bass Rod
Personally, I'm not a big fan of either one. I think if you're thinking about dropping the $150 on a CS you ought to see how it compares to the Avid and not the Mojo. You're talking about two different classes of rods.

Michell 310XGE
They're not terrible reels, but there are probably better reels in the same price range. I picked mine up for $15 in the clearance section of my local Walmart, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.

American Chopper is no more
Senior openly admitted in an interview several years ago that he would put the OCC name and/or logo on pretty much anything, as long as it made him some money. Since he couldn't predict how long their popularity would last, he was going to make as much money as he possibly could while it lasted. Good riddance. Wow! What a POS. That's smart business. Strike while the iron is hot. It's kinda funny. They were the joke of the custom motorcycle community, but the "general public" just loved them.

Pflueger Supreme vs Supreme XT??
I think you reach a point where the performance of the equipment you're comparing is no longer an issue, so the only thing left to do is pick the one that you find the most aesthetically appealing. The XT would probably look great mounted on a St. Croix LTB, but the standard Supreme would look better on an Avid.
