  1. That's a great deal thanks for sharing! Are the baitcasting ones only for round reels or will it still fit the low profiles? I have a couple BPS brand but they can't be on the rod so it never gets used except probably this winter to store it. Why not? I have one and it fits fine with the reel mounted on the rod. You need to leave a little bit of slack in the line, put the cover in place, and take up the slack in the line.

IMO, Berettas and Rugers both suffer from the same problem...size. They're fine guns, but much larger than necessary and difficult to carry concealed unless you're the size of a grizzly bear. retiredbosn, what problems did you have with your Glock? Were they reliability problems or were they design/ergonomic problems? I have several friends in LE and the only brands they recommend unconditionally are Glock and Sig.

The Norinco 1911s are no longer available new in the US due to a ban on the importation of firearms from China. (It's okay to import everything else from China, though. : ) Last time I checked, they were still available in Canada thru Marstar, they just can't be brought over the border.

In general, the folks who own them seem to like them and they come with a lifetime warranty. My question is this...how much is your life worth? How much are the lives of your kids or wife worth to you? There are plenty of areas in life where you can save a buck or two, but in the world of firearms, you get what you pay for.
  5. Since you already have the 6'6" MH/F Compre for spinnerbaits and jigs, I'd pick up a 6'6" M/XF Compre (CPCX66MB) to use for worming.
  6. #1) #2) #3) I'll drink just about any beer, but if I'm buying, it'll be one (or more) of the above.
  7. Me too. :-[ I'm assuming he referring to Prince's "Purple Rain" and Milli Vanilli's "Blame it on the Rain"
  8. I own a Kistler Magnesium and have owned a couple Johnny Morris Signature Series rods (still have one), but in that price range I prefer the St. Croix Avid. They feel lighter in my hand than the Johnny Morris, and I prefer a full cork grip for most applications/techniques so that puts them ahead of the Kistler in my book. FWIW, the Johnny Morris I used to own was the 6'10" MH/XF casting rod and it handled like a broom stick. Too stiff, too heavy, and poor sensitivity. My 6'6" MH spinning rod, on the other hand, has been fantastic.
  9. Go back to the main forum page and scroll to the bottom. In the 'Forum Statistics' section you'll see a small box which will let you 'View the ___ most recent posts of this forum.'
  10. I stand corrected. That movie is the reason I said "almost complete collection". I just can't make myself fork over the cash for that one... ;D
  11. I have an almost complete collection of Clint's westerns on DVD, but I still watch them on TV whenever I stumble upon them. High Plains Drifter is my favorite one, but they're all pretty good...well, except for Paint Your Wagons. Clint shouldn't sing.
  12. The Compre falls between the Clarus and the Crucial in Shimano's rod lineup and comes with the same lifetime warranty. FWIW, the Crucials are nice rods (I have a CRS66M) but in that price range I prefer the St. Croix Avid.
  13. I did. They only had the two spools of 20# and a spool of something lighter, like 10# or something. When this stuff goes into the clearance area, there's rarely more than a half-dozen or so. If it's something that I'm fairly sure I'll use, I buy them all. However, if it's something that I may or may not use, or something that I don't use on a regular basis, I'll buy a couple and leave the rest for someone else. I don't buy it to resell, and see no reason to stock up on things I'm not going to use.
  14. That's really the only reason I go to WM. I check the clearance section, and if there's nothing good, I leave. In the past several months I've picked up: 10 Strike King Red Eye Special spinnerbaits @ $.90 each 15 Mann's Classic spinnerbaits @ $1 each 4 Strike King Premier Plus spinnerbaits @ $2 each 6 Strike King Premier Pro Model spinnerbaits @ $1 each 6 pks Bass Magic swimbaits @ $.50 each 6 Strike King Red Eye Shad in Chrome/Black @ $.50 each 8 Stanley Wedge spinnerbaits @ $1 each 3 Norman Fat Boy crankbaits @ $1 each several Mann's Baby 1- @ $.50 - $1 2 Shimano Sonora 2500FB @ $15 each 1 Mitchell 308Xe @ $15 2 spools PowerPro 20# @ $4 each That's just what I can remember without going down to the shop and opening boxes. ;D I've also found a bunch of lures and misc. stuff on clearance at the local Targets and Kmarts, like Plano 3600 series boxes for $1 each and Rapala cranks for $1.24
  15. They're kinda like JC Whitney or Sportsmans Guide. Order something from their online store and you'll get a flyer in the mail almost every week. I get two of each flyer, one in my name and one in my wife's name because she bought me an anniversary present from BPS a few years ago.
  16. I keep a combo like that in my car/truck at all times. It's a 2-piece 6'6" M/F St. Croix 'Triumph' with a Mitchell 308Xe and 20# PowerPro. It's nothing special or flashy, but it gets the job done without beaking the bank. The reel definitely isn't the smoothest I've used and it has a bit of handle 'slop', but the drag is decent and I picked it up for $15 in the clearance section of my local Walmart. The braid does a good job of handling the temperature extremes of riding around in a vehicle's trunk and also helps make up for some of the sensitivity loss you experience with a 2-piece rod. I picked it out of the same clearance section for $4. The combo is cheap enough that I'm not too worried about anything happening to it, but not so cheap that I worry about it falling apart while I'm using it.
  17. Many people have said this this since they came out, but folks didn't want to hear it.
  18. x2 I wouldn't mind trying the new Tour Edition PT with the carbon handle, but I can't bring myself to shell out that kind of money when I can get a Curado or Patriarch for less.
  19. The Red Eye were only $.90 each. If they'd had more, I would've bought them all. I'm not a big fan of painted blades, but I have enough nickel, gold, and brass blades to change them out when/if I get around to using them.
  20. One of the local Walmarts had a bunch of these in the clearance section along with Mann's "Classic" spinnerbaits. I bought all they had, 10 of the Red Eye in white, 1 in firetiger, and 15 of the Classic in white for about $25.
  21. I say send the box to Clark. He's the only one that really got shafted in this deal. Let him decide if he wants to continue the lure pass. He posted his address at the bottom of page 10 (reply #146) If you really want to make this right, ship the box to Clark and post a tracking # so he can follow it.
  22. x2 I've gotten to the point where I have an active credit card on my Paypal account to keep my account open, but I typically pay for my larger purchases with Ebay gift cards I buy at the local grocery store. If I don't have the cash to cover it, I don't buy it. If the item is less than $30 or so, I add my debit card to my account, pay for the item, then remove the card from the account. The only debt I have is my mortgage.
  23. Which makes him both a thief and a coward.
  24. FWIW, out of roughly a dozen baitcasters and at least 9 spinning reels, the only reel to give me problems right out of the box was a Citica 200E.
  25. My spot is open as well. I'm gonna sit this one out.
