  1. That is a nice batch of rods dick. It seems like the micro guide concept is really taking off.
  2. Caught a 6 lber on a black & red Spro popper frog on 6/12/09.
  3. I go through there every couple of weeks heading and coming home from work. I live about an hour NE near Tylertown. Good luck in the pads.
  4. Hey man, you could try any of the frogs on the market. I have been doing alright on the Zoom horny toads and Spros here lately. A buzzbait tends to pull them out pretty good, too. Good luck though. What part of LA you fishing in?
  5. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/co-angler_clinic.html This is a good read and a few extra links for co-angler etiquette.
  6. Awesome interview. I think people put Ike down a lot by his antics, but he is just being himself. He does what people think is weird or unsportsman like in some views. But come on, who doesn't want to scream when they are on the verge of that big payday. Emotional man to say the least.
  7. I don't know, might be joining the ranks with Mr. Martin's products. It will prpably be advertised to hurry up and get, it is already illegal in 65 states and most tournaments.
  8. 1/16 or 1/8 for less than 10'. And up to 1/2 for any deeper. I like to stay as light as poosible for the slowest desent whenever possible though. High winds will usually make me go to the heavy side.
  9. Be sure to drink your ovaltine, a crummy commercial. ;D
  10. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D More like tea baggin'. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
  11. I have been a member here for quite a while, but I have not posted much, but making a comeback. I hale out of south MS and I am fishing beginner tourneys this year and just trying to get in to the swing of things. I have bass fished for a little over 20 years now. And I have read some awesome stuff on here. I finally broke the ice with drop shotting from learning here and the people who post and the article sections have some of the best tips around. I like to crack a lot of jokes, too, so don't be offended, I mean no harm, and I can take them as well as I give them.
  12. Awesome, can't wait to see the rest of them. I have got to get my TiVo fixed for coverage Saturday.
  13. A buddy pulled out the crankbait with the battery that flashes and makes clicking sounds. I just had to turn my head to keep from laughing when he pulled that thing out. He finally caught a fish when water got in the bait and quit working.
  14. There is a mecca of dead lakes around the Jackson area that are supplied by the Pearl River. You have got the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Plus there are several delta lakes within probably an hour and a half drive: Eagle Lake, Bee Lake, Little Eagle, and several other public impoundments. You can go to mdwfp.com and get several depth maps for lakes and information regarding the fishing. All the ones mentioned by Hoss are good, too.
  15. July 1997 - 9 lbs even - Zoom Smoke blue 6" lizard - had the bullet tooth picked 2' above the worm to let it sit on top of the grass. I thought I was hung on a log. I couldn't tell if the line was moving or the boat due to the wind, so I decided to sock it home and take my chances. Glad I did.
  16. MY dad was never much of a fisherman, but he would take me about twice a year as a small child, but I still remember the trips and loving it. But when we visited my grandparent's, my grandpa always had me in a pond bream fishing. When I was 10, my dad took the opprotunity to join my grandpa's business and we moved to south MS. I got to fish all the time with my grandpa and he broke me in with bream fishing. When I was about 12 he gave me 50 bucks and told me to go to TG&Y and get a baitcaster and rod, and to get one of Momma aluminum pie plates and get in the yard and start practicing. I think the accumalation of letting crickets and catalpa worms loose in his car finally did it in. He told me if I wanted to fish with him, it was time to big boy fish. So I did that, and I have been bass fishing for over 20 years. Now I have 2 little boys, 3 & 6, and I am breaking them in on the bream and catfish ponds, and they are loving it. My wife has also taking interest since going with my boys. She is wanting me to take her bass fishing now. Uh-oh, I might have just lost my solace if she hooks up.
  17. Try out this short read: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/dropshot_fish.html I have learned a ton since I stumbled across the fishing articles section at the top of the page. It's always a good place to check for the basics.
  18. Thanks fellas, that's the kind of info I was looking for.
  19. I plan on making a trip to Dreamstrike this March or April. A buddy of mine said they caught a load of 4-6 fish. The $50 price tag isn't too bad to have a day of catching chuncks. Lake Okhissa in Bude is a hot spot right now though for us. Those fish are fat and abundant. It can be difficult to get out of the slot, but you can't beat the F-1 fight. I live by Waller and Columbia, but I just have never had much luck out there. I reckon I need to polish up on my finesse skills because it doesn't matter if it rains 2', it's going to be as clear as a crystal. Some of our other hot spots are Mary Crawford, Jeff Davis, and Lake Lincoln.
  20. I am just starting to pick up crankbaits after years of neglecting them. What do you choose for the varying conditions and how does the million of different type of lips effect the bait? I understand they will either create a tight or loose wobble according to the size. But when do you use which kind and under what conditions like muddy or clear and so on? And what are some of your favorite brands and models?
  21. Guilty on the Dancin' Eel and the flying lures. But I must say, I caught a few fish of the Flying Lures.
  22. I fished Okhissa in South Mississippi last Friday when Ike was moving in. We had 25+ sustained winds and I would estimate gust at 35-45. And we had torrential down pours throught the morning. We did manage to boat 33 fish with 3 between the 16-20 slot. We found a protected point with a creek channel in 15-20' of water. They pretty much hit everything that we threw in the water as far as plastics go. That is the best day I have ever had on that lake. It was a good day to say the least.
  23. I am not going to go a day without throwing a 6" Zoom watermelon seed or green pumpkin lizard. I also like the 7.5 Culprit fire and ice and the watermelon. I have also recently been turned on to tungsten wieghts. I fish anywhere from the 1/16 - 1/4 oz, depending on the depth and weather. They provide a lot more sensitivity to me. But you wanna cry if you lose one.
  24. Bill catches fish on them in his honey hole, why can't I?!? LOL Take a drimmel and shave the lip off, it does alright for skippin under stuff.
