  2. Thats about right, especially if they take it for a test drive, which some do.
  3. I use reel grips on all my reels. I dont use the rod wrap, I feel like it adds too much weight....but in reality it doesn't add that much. I guess it's just a mental thing.

I try to stay as far away as I can and still be accurate, especially in shallower water. I dont ever get to fish any mats but if I did, I wouldn't be AS concerned about spooking fish because mats are so thick. And being closer in, I'd probably be flippin'. 30' is a pretty good distance. There will be a point though, when you have to put so much into it that your accuracy will fade.
  5. T.O. to the Bills makes no sense. Trent Edwards is not the QB for T.O. What were the Bills thinking?
  6. Obviously the guy you are speaking of with the Gambler didnt know how to use his trim tabs. Proper use of the trim tabs in rough water makes the ride a lot better. They are to aid in hole-shot, rough water and cruising at slower speeds (the boat stays on plane). Plus, there's not many places in America that kick up like Erie so I wouldn't even consider the rough water there a factor when looking for a boat unless Erie was my home lake.
  7. Jerkbaits until the water hits around 50, then all of the above plus some.
  8. Yeah, it takes a little more than a liquid spray to remove oxidation. Thats hard work and lots of it.
  9. If you have not tried Bow To Stern yet, you should. This stuff is awesome. I wiped down my entire boat with it today and it's shining like a new one again. It cuts right through dirt, road grime, water lines or whatever gets in its path, with minimal effort I might add. Then after the dirt is gone, it leaves a nice glossy finish. It's the best boat cleaner I've ever used, no question about it, worth every penny.

  11. I plan on it about 30 days from now.... ;D Right on!
  12. This is the point where hull designs come into play.
  13. I guess we're going to pick up Michael Vick to throw to T.O. too, huh? That probably wouldn't be a bad idea 'cause that LSU scrub Jamarcus Russell aint hittin' on much. What a waste of money he's been. Dude's killin' us. You guys just keep kicking the Raiders while they're down. They'll get back up one day and the shoe will be on the other foot. Just win baby! fishfordollar wrote: T.O. isn't a convict. Yet.
  14. cart is right. The cookie cutter boats are much easier to find because they make so many and they spend a pile of money each year on advertising. That said....I love my Gambler! If you ever get a chance, crawl around in one for a little while and see what they're all about.

  16. He didn't. Jason Witten did. ;D And you mentioned Da Bears.....they need to consider signing a real QB before they go get a 'star' receiver like T.O. He has problems with mediocre QB's.
  17. Any recent water temp reports from Claytor? Cant give you much info on Claytor this time of year. Water temps will tell you a lot though.
  18. I like the forecasted temperatures but I'd much rather have some clouds and gray skies to go with 'em. Maybe even have a storm roll in with some warm rain about noon on Saturday or something. That would get things going.

  22. Like what's been said so far, I wouldn't look for it to warm up too much but you may get a degree or two in the bays that are directly in the sun the longest. The afternoon bite, in theory, should be better than the morning. When the temps at night quit dropping into the teens and 20's is when you'll get a better warming water trend. Right now, the temps are right on that fine line where I am and the fishing is feast or famine. You either whack 'em, or you don't get a sniff. It's that simple. Once the temps stabilize at 48-49, (day and night) is when things get good. I'd like to know where you're located also...it may help you get the most precise answers.
  23. Thats a good one Jeff and the fishing is only getting better from here on out.
  24. [ No, the reels are working properly so it doesn't bother me. If I was having issues with any of the reels, it would bother me. The explanation that Abu has given for the sound makes sense. It's just the brake catching up with the spool. Once that happens, the brake evens everything out and the sound stops, before my lure hits the water. Plus, it's not a noise like someone's car horn going off for 5 minutes.....we're talking seconds here. I know of several people who use the Premiers. The sound seems to be just a characteristic of the Premier. And other than the sound thing, I haven't heard many other complaints about them overall.
