Road Trip Attendees Update - 2/16/09
Jimzee, just so you know, I expect you to be fishing on my boat at some point during the trip.

Mike L did it again but with a Senko this time
I knew there had to be one Cali lake that had normal sized limits. Mr Long pocketed another 3 grand for 8 hours work. Not bad at all.

David Fritts wins another with the DT
How dare you talk about my boy Fritts like that. What those guys may have thought was a Fat Free Shad was probably that bone colored DT20 that he was using. Do you actually think these dudes were actually close enough to Fritts' boat to accurately see what brand crank he was throwin? I doubt it too. ;D

Hey Glenn, can I have your autograph?

Revo Premier vs. Daiwa Zillion
I'd take the Premier. I own several of them and all have been great performers. I would like to throw a Zillion around for a while though to see what all the hype is about.

Smith Mountain Lake
As long as the water stays up you should be able to get most of the way up to the Powerhouse. I grew up fishing around that dam on the bottom side. Lots of different fish in there and when the stripers get piled up at the Powerhouse its like fishin in a barrel. My go to bait back then was a texas rigged 4" ringworm, red with black core and a 2/0 worm hook. Most of the time, that was the only worm I took with me. That worm caught rockies, smallies, largemouth, catfish, carp, stripers, white bass, crappie. Come to think of it, I should use them more out on the main lake. ;D

Does anyone use Trilene 100% flouro
KVD Line & Lure Conditioner will help greatly with this issue as well as reducing memory. I use the 100% fluorcarbon also and its been very good to me. It's the only straight fluorocarbon I use anymore and I always treat it with KVD L&LC.

Smith Mountain Lake
You talking about the dam on the upper end or the lower end? I suspect you're talking about upper since you mentioned rock bass.

New Lure Broke My Losing Streak!
The SH head rigged with a super fluke has saved the day quite a few times around here.

Lure Retriever
I have a lure retriever that you dont see every day. It's an old broken rod cut off after the first guide. I have an old Pflueger level wind reel spooled with small diameter nylon rope with a lure retriever tied on the end. Works like a charm and is easier to handle than the BPS reel up kind. Just buy the lure retriever for $4 or $5 bucks (I prefer the type with the free swinging chains), snap off a rod, get one of your grandads old reels out of the garage and go to work.

Working jerkbaits: which hand do you use?
It was a problem for me in the past as well. I just had to practice a lot then practice some more. I used to chill on the couch and practice the twitching.(then we got a cat and that came to a halt) Another thing that may help is to get a 7.1 reel that picks up a bunch of line fast, that will at least help keep your line tighter.
