  1. I've never fished a Patriarch and being that I own several STX's....I'll probably never need to fish a Patriarch.

It's just an 'ol largemouth....but dangit, it looked just like a magnum spot. There were no teeth on the tongue, I checked twice. I thought for a minute that I had the Va state record spot on my line. Oh well.

It should be Hamill fighting McCarthy since Hamill technically beat Bisping in their fight....that was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen.

Let's test your bass identifying skills.....is this a Spot or a Largemouth?
  5. WOOOO HOOOO Burleyman! Thanks for scrubbing out the background....now I don't know where NOT to fish. ;D
  6. Wow, you ordered an All Star ASR from Airrus?
  7. Just my opinion here of course, but....Revo > Curado
  8. Go ahead, take a bite
  9. I fish a very clear reservoir and the only time I use a jig with a rattle is if the water gets stained or at night.
  10. I'll start the day with a topwater (usually a spook), then switch to a crank (bluegill or baby bass pattern), then onto the jig (brown or green pumpkin). Top to bottom.
  11. Welcome to the site. I live in Roanoke and fish the river several times a year when I can get off Smith Mtn long enough. I'm not exactly sure what species of "other fish" would be considered the main forage for the smallies but I'm sure if it swims, the smallies will eat it. But yes, the crawdad reigns supreme.

I think GSP looked past Serra last time and underestimated him a bit. I'd bet the farm that it dont happen again this time.
  13. Nice job, Gaston is a great lake ! I like fishing in Holly Grove myself. Is the spawn over with down there yet or is it going on now?
  14. Dont pay any attention to Burley....he doesn't even fish anymore, he just likes to talk about fishing. Good fish! Bad shirt! BOOO WVU BOOOO! ;D
  15. I bought a ASR 7'2" MH about 2 months ago for pitching and throwing jigs. Being a $75 dollar rod, I wasn't expecting too much but they looked good and I've always thought All Star made a good rod so I went ahead and got it. So far this spring, it's the rod I've got the most use out of. It's fairly light, plenty sensitive and can withstand a rock solid hookset. It handles really well and has great backbone strength. I have a Revo Premier on it right now and the overall combined weight is minimal for a MH set-up over 7' long. I would recommend that anyone looking for a rod under $100 to give the ASR's a look. I'm glad I did. I'm ordering another one (maybe two) tomorrow.
  16. Arthur, when it says that someone is already using the name you want, you have to pick another name.
  17. Yep, stripers are notorious for just straight up stealing your lures or smashing them up so bad that they will never be useable ever again. But boy, what a blast if you get to fight them for a while. They really give your drag system a good workout.
  18. Yep, Ovechkin won't last long carrying the whole team around on his back all the time. The Caps were one loss away from missing the playoffs and they had to win about 11 straight down the stretch just to keep playoff hopes alive. They're hot right now, but they'll fizzle out soon enough. GO RANGERS!!
  19. All the guys too sore from catching all those hawgs last week?
  20. Welcome back cajun!
  21. You got that right. And Aaron Martens has won a BASS event before, he just comes in 2nd at the Classic a lot.
  22. Daiwa = thread killer Just kidding Daiwa!
  23. Good report. This is the week its going to bust wide open here on Smith Mtn too.....bite has been real good the past few days.
  24. You got that right....the bite was awesome yesterday. I spotted two good smallies circling/fanning beds in about 6 ft of water. Water temp in there was 56 early. Congrats on your 3rd place finish Ben. What did your boater do?
  25. Berkley 100% offers the green tint fluorocarbon now too, the green tint is supposed to eliminate any flash that may happen underwater with their clear fluorocarbon.
