  2. I like the new color schemes of the 1- Elite's .....bought quite a few myself.
  3. In my opinion, the paint jobs on the Frenzy cranks and the overall design are pretty cheap looking but I do own some of them and have caught fish with them. Not sure how true the "sleeper" comment is but you never know.
  4. I guess thats why he got DQ'd. .....and lets keep the respect level up here,I edited your last post accordingly.
  5. Heard of a trolling motor before? They all had them down. All they had to do was keep a gap big enough for competitors and non-competitors to pass through the canal. I'm willing to bet 49 other anglers would of done the same thing Swindle did in that situation. Ever heard of idling before? Key word in your sentence is CANAL. From what I could tell,he should've been idling in that canal even if there hadnt been any spec boats in there. One other angler in that canal would've constituted an "idle thru". Thats all Swindle had to do and he wouldnt have been DQ'd. He should've known better than to BLOW thru there like that. And do you actually think that the other 49 anglers in the Classic didnt have to deal with spec boats all weekend? I didnt hear of anybody else BLOWING thru people and getting DQ'd??? Swindle's probably out on the lake right now practicing idling around.
  6. Gander was just about to build a store here.....hopefully that still carries through and I'll have a BPS close to me.....I've been dreaming of THAT for a LONG time.
  7. Deep cranks- American Rodsmiths 7'6" David Fritts fiberglass medium rod, David Fritts Crankin' reel (4.7:1 ratio), 10# YZH. Favorite cranks are LC CBD-20 and also the 12's,DD22,DT16,Mann's 20+,Megabass Deep-X 200,#9 Shad Raps.....
  8. Here's a link to a recent discussion of the great spawning debate. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1170294876/0
  9. I have a far better hookup ratio with straight shanks....round bend of course.
  10. Shimano makes spare parts? I guess I'm going on what I always hear, but I didnt think Shimano even made spare parts because their reels were so great??
  11. Thanks for posting the update. I have my order in for a major warming trend to hit Lake Fork the weekend after next and little or no rain from now until March 23rd.
  12. Remy.....thats good stuff!
  13. Duckett showed everyone how important it is to weigh in a kicker fish. The 6+ pounder he caught in the last hour put him over the top. That particular fish was worth roughly $455,000. I was pulling for Royce Dennington and he was very consistent all weekend.....in fact,he blasted off day 1 in 21st and ended up finishing 21st. It doesnt get anymore consistent than that!
  14. Thats cool that you checked it in and entered the info.....and if nothing else,I think the stats on tagged fish are interesting. I have only caught one tagged fish before and it was tagged and released for a "tournament" and was worth $100 bucks. Only problem was that I caught it about 2 weeks after the tournament was over.
  15. The bottom line is that he should've idled through the crowd. He obviously made a real bad decision blowing through there like that and BASS made the correct call and DQ'd his catch.
  16. I prefer the Original Rad Lures Chatterbait. I've also fished the Gambler and the Booyah and I get a better thump from the original and it has produced more fish than the others. I do however feel like the others are made a better than the original but they dont put fish in the boat like it does.
  17. You really cant go wrong buying anything from Owner although I'm not a big fan of the Owner trebles with the points turned slightly inward. They dont seem to get a deep enough bite into the fishes mouth.
  18. I've got about 3 reels that need braid on them right now! Bring that spool to Fork and we'll get rid of it for you! ;D
  19. Welcome!! We're glad you're here!
  20. #21 Royce Dennington makes some killer football jigs and sells them on eBay. I hope he does well in the Classic.....he's one heck of a nice guy.
  21. If you fish open water alot, you should give the Sure Sets a try. That one bigger hook makes a difference, plus they are good quality hooks and quite sticky.
  22. I recently picked up a Cara for the first time and I must say, it felt like a great rod and looked very well built. I was quite impressed with the overall weight and am considering one for myself.
  23. Definitely a couple of the smaller LV's (rat'l baits),a couple of Moonsault CB200's and a couple of Pointer 78's.....all in bright colors since your fishing stained water.
  24. I'm like Alpster.....I dont care who it is,as long as it's SOMEBODY! It's just going to be really cool to put names and faces together and shake a few hands. Maybe the weather will cooperate this year and they'll be plenty of hawgs out catching some sun. LBH, you're a better man than me....if I had only caught 2 dinks in a weeks time,I WOULDNT EVEN CONSIDER going back a second time.
  25. I've got one of these in the mail (along with a Tiemco Mad Pepper Mag) - - how do you like it? What kind of action does it have? I like 'em. The action is similar to a #7 Shad Rap and just a little bit bigger. If you crank deep alot, you'll like it.
