I plan on getting into crankbaits this spring, I need a little help deciding what to go with. A majority of the water I fish is fairly shallow - about 3' to 10' on average, with a lot of vegetation to deal with. There are some places where it can be a little deeper. 1) Would it be even worth it to run cranks in these conditions ? 2) I've read up on them here and elsewhere, I see where guys will chew up the bottom with them or bang them off of stumps and whatever. How do you pull this off without constantly getting fouled ? Will take any suggestions on brands, techniques, do's and dont's, etc.
  2. No, but I used to work with a guy who could draw flies.
  3. Slick your plastics up good with scent oil (or make your own with mineral oil, garlic powder, anise, whatever). They tend to slide down through the pads a little better.
  4. have not heard of Fisher girl rods, this may be of help http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchResults?searchOption=products&hvarSearchString=female+rods+reels&storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&CMID=TOP_SEARCH_GO&x=13&y=12
  5. Well.... C'MON all you other manufactuer's reps.... you heard the man, step up to the plate. We know you lurk around on this site while your supposed to be working, turn it into a little more revenue for your company. You just gonna let Shimano push you around like that ?
  6. Three guys are sitting at the bar having drinks. The first guy says "I think my wife has something goin' on with the plumber. I found a pipewrench under our bed and I don't even own a pipewrench". "Hmmm" says the next guy "Now that you mention it, I think my wife is carrying on with the electrician. I found wire cutters under our bed" "Well, my wife is having an affair with a horse" says the third guy. The first two guys are just glaring at him now. "Yeah, the other day I came home early and found a jockey under the bed"......
  7. That's cool My sister in law takes my two daughters (ages 10 & 12) to Philadelphia every holiday season to see either the Nutcracker or Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. She started taking them when they were about your daughter's age. They love it and look forward to it every year.
  8. That was done by Terry Gilliam of Monty Python in 1968, I believe before he joined Python. Useless trivia: Gilliam was the only American in the group. I think he went to school in England.

Of course there's aliens. Haven't you ever been in Wal Mart ?
  14. Imagine if the Wright Brothers could see this.....
  15. Question - Any harm in a coating of car wax on my sticks during winter storage ? I've always used it on the guide inserts as I feel I get a little more distance, but never on the rod itself.
  16. Why not ? (unless you're fishing a tournament) It's more of a contest. Think of it like ultra light, the fish has the edge, can you beat him ? Maybe consider throwing modified Snag Proof frogs. At half the cost of Spros it won't sting as bad when you lose one. C'mon, where's the fun in tow truckin' a bass out of the slop if no $$$ is on the line ?
  17. Is L.A. on fire yet ?? What a dumba_ _. Got away with murder, could have quietly faded away BUT NO just had to find ways to be in the spotlight. I wonder if Plexico Buress is his illegitimate son ?

  20. Hmmmmm.... Sawzall to the neck or incessant Christmas music...... I'll have to think about that one.....
  21. Four tries
  22. I'm offended. I married a nun. I get none in the morning and none at night.
  23. Can't wait to hear how his people spin this one. Can you see the cheesy public service annoucements that'll be part of his sentence. "Hey kids, Plaxico Buress here to talk to you about guns...."
  24. You can't do "everything" on the water until you've put your time in. I suggest this: If you want to learn worms or other soft plastics, next time you go out, bring ONLY them. Throw them 5 feet in front of you so you can get an idea about what they look like and how they act when they're twitched, hopped ,etc. Then cast out and try to visualize your bait underwater. Don't mimic what you see others do, learn the "feel" of each bait. If you have access to a pool, it's a great way to see how baits work. I used worms and soft plastics as an example, the same applies to other baits as well. The reason I said to bring one thing at a time is that it's easy to get frustrated and want to tie on something new every five minutes. That comes later Worms (Senkos especially) are a good place to start though, as they are one of the easier baits to fish. Stick with it ,you'll get it.
