  1. Ask if any of 'em can get me Vikings tickets...
  2. Send it out. Bails themselves can be frustrating for those of us who have done them. Often they are the part of a spinning reel that needs the most attention.
  3. Foam practice golf balls = good scupper plugs.
  4. I have the Perception. It's my first yak, so I have nothing to compare it to, but so far I like it very much. I've never paddled a sit in yak, but I can tell you the majority of fishing kayaks are sot's. One of the major advantages of a sot is ease of getting in and out of it. Access to your fishing gear is easier with a sot also. I'm about 215 lbs and my Perception is extremely stable. I can even sit on it sideways if I want and it will not tip. That brings up another reason to go with a sot - if you do happen to roll over, you can get back onboard a sot much easier than getting back in a sit in. Plus in a sit in you are stuck inside the hull during a rollover. Pretty scary. Here's a link to one of a bunch of articles out there:http://www.captdick.net/SELECT%20A%20FISHING%20KAYAK.htm If you do go with the Perception, pm me and I'll go into some details with you about it and pass on some tricks I've learned. Good Luck
  5. If it ain't broke, don't mess with it.
  6. I'd fight it naked only if it was REALLY, REALLY cold out... 8-)
  7. Thanks a bunch SoFla. Wanna come and clean the snot from my computer screen now ?
  8. Looks like someone needs an aluminum foil helmet to keep the radio waves away...
  9. Good point. I "accidently" figured that out when I started t rigging tubes with EWG hooks. I had to bend the point up slightly to make it run parallel to the tube to keep the tube from kinking. I never thought about improved hooksets and I rarely miss with that setup.
  10. A wide gap hook gives more space between the shank of the hook and the body of the bait, allowing room for the bait to "give" when the fish takes it. In a nutshell, much better hookup ratio. Straight shanks are fine for skinny baits such as worms.
  11. Temps are down here and forecast has rain coming in late tonight and most of the day tomorrow. Time to blow the dust off of the rain suit and get out on the water to salvage what has been for the most part a crappy fishing season. Looking forward to very few boats on the water and nailing me some fattys...
  12. Being I fish out of a kayak, one small soft tackle bag with a few Plano boxes is fine for me. As for plastics, small ziplock bags with 4 - 5 of each bait is enough. I see no need to carry full bags of plastics. When I used to carry a ton of tackle, I got into the bad habit of changing baits too often. Over time I've whittled it down to what works best for me. I have my ultra lite tackle down to two baby Plano boxes in a soft six pack size lunch cooler.
  13. I love this theory!! Word!!! I'm gonna get Big M to paint up some cranks with baggy pants sagging / underwear exposed patterns.
  14. Like, wow man, check this out http://www.theonion.com/articles/worlds-top-scientists-ponder-what-if-the-whole-uni,712/
  15. It's possible. Brushes wear, electrical contacts oxidize, causing the motor to draw more amps. Mono can get wrapped around the prop shaft, causing binding and wiping out seals.
  16. Now we're talking...One of those fly in trips to a remote part of Canada.
  17. How much does a new set of nads cost ?
  18. and probably painted with lead paint LOL Hey slonezp, do you remember the psa's from the seventies about eating lead paint chips? p.s. - metal Tonka Trucks. You could hospitalize someone with one of those.
  19. Hey beach bum, who's boat ? Some of your recent pics show you on a boat. I thought you were primarily a beach angler.
  20. I was a diehard Trilene fan but I haven't looked back since I found this.
  21. I feel old now. When I was six I was sitting in mud playing with my Tonka Trucks.
  22. A must when working on any kind of electrical device with solid state circuitry: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103245
  23. BWAHHHHH!!!! Be sure to post a pic...
  24. Is that what some call a mahi mahi ? If so, broiled or grilled works for me. Keep the seasoning light and throw in a big fat baked 'tater
