best baitcasting reel??
For $20 more I have a Shimano CU-201 Bantam for sale in the flea market. I am sure many people would agree this is a great reel for a low price.

The Beginings of a Jon Boat Conversion
I wouldn't think it would need to have a casting deck. JMO. The sides are rather shallow and adding a deck would just add weight and decrease the stability greatly. I think you would be better off waiting a bit till you get a bigger size boat. But in the meantime you can still the trolling motor and fish finder along with some storage compartments in the rear.

Tungsten Difference?
I didnt think it would make that big of a difference making the switch. But I was wrong, fishing with tungsten makes it so I can feel the bottom and I know exactly what my bait is touching. Also the size makes a huge difference, using a 3/8oz to punch through weeds the bait just glides straight down. The cost might be a little higher, but if you think about it a good crankbait is $6+ so if you have a $2 weight with a $.30 hook and a $.50 bait. You have one fine looking setup all with premium components all at around $3. I strongly advise you to use some tungsten I think you will be satisfied.

Plane question
Batteries are in the front mid section, where most of the weight is. My top speed with the 9.9 is 8.1 MPH on gps.

Plane question
Right now I have a 9.9 HP engine on my 14ft row boat, with front casting deck, trolling motor and two batteries. Also with usually two people and gear. I am guessing the weight after all this is 7-800 pounds. Possibly more. The 9.9 does not get it on plane. Do you think an 18 would? I have the opportunity to trade for an 18hp engine but I wanna make sure it would get it on plane. Thanks -Dylan

Alright college students let start suing.
So the answer to any problem in someones life is to sue? So if I were to get laid off from a job I can sue them because they took my job away? Man people are crazy, I should start suing people for all my problems . Dear Bassresource, I am suing you because I like your site better than HW

Do Bass Care About the Visibility of Braid?
Visibility of braid depends on the water you fish and the structure or cover. I do not use a flouro leader but that's because if I am using braid it is mostly in thick grass or near heavier cover.

Trolling motor cable question
Found this, but I dont have a clue what it is saying. I took the control head off but after that I could not understand anything else. I dont know what the upper bearing or the outer shaft bearing are or where to find them. To adjust the tension on a M/G one cable steering. Get someone to help you. Put the t/m in the down position, loosen the outer shaft bearing (2 set screws) and lower it about 6-9. Take the top cover off, disconnect wires, remove the 6 screws that hold the cover on the rack and remove the cover, pull up the steering cable with gear. Hold or block the motor and shaft up about 6. Remove the setscrew in the pinion gear and back the gear off about 5-6 turns. NOTE: you can break the teeth on the gear so do it carefully. Remove the support block and let the shaft lower to the upper bearing, put grease on both bearings, move the outer bearing back up the shaft as far as you can, tighten the 2 set screws. Tighten (be careful) the pinion gear down to get the tension you want. Tighten the 1 set screw, install the rack, hold the foot pedal all the way down in the back and turn the motor so its pointing back, hold there and install the steering gear and rack cover with 1 screw, test steering, if ok, install 5 more screws. Reinstall or connect wires, install top cover (line up the pointer) In effect, what you are doing is the same basics as adjusting the tension on the wheel bearings of your boat trailer. Hope this helps.

Trolling motor cable question
Just looked but didn't find any screw sticking out or any screw for that matter. Ill have to dig up the manual and see if it says anything about the adjustment.

Trolling motor cable question
I bought a used trolling motor and it feels the cables are kind of loose, like any tap on the foot thing and it spins around fast. And if I take my foot off it turns one way or another. On new trolling motors I have noticed the foot pedal to be a little tighter where the motor will stay in one direction unless you push the foot pedal. Is there any way I could tighten my foot pedal?

Making the switch to braid
Go with 20#, its got a really thin diameter and yet strong enough that it will break your rod if you try to break off. Good choice going with fireline braid, I was at gander mountain about to pick some up for my spinning reel and they didnt have what I was looking for. My second choice was suffix, and they were out. So by default I got power pro. Already with no fishing and the line has got me angered. They put jagged edges around the spool so I couldnt just lay the spool flat and reel it straight on. Really frustrating lol

What's $4000 get me???
http://chicago.craigslist.org/search/?areaID=11&subAreaID=&query=bass+boat&catAbbreviation=sss idk where in Illinois you live but here is for Chicago, there are some nice ones in the 4-5k range. Pretty much if you look for a used boat, floor, transom, stringers and motor are big things to check. I have found craigslist great. In this economy people need the money so they will sell a boat worth 8-9k for 4-5k, just to match the market. Good luck!

Trolling Motor Prop Question
Yeah I hope it is 3.5", cause there are not very many options for a 3" motor. I will have to check it out next week.

Trolling Motor Prop Question
Well speed for me is not a huge problem, It is a 55# on a 14ft row boat, this thing whips. It is just annoying when going through some thick weeds and you hear it bog down. Is there anything special I need to take of the prop?

Humminbird 717 wideside sonar
I dont think he is. On the 700 series it offers a wide side transducer, kinda like the side imaging just not as clear and picture like.

Best deeper water baits
10ft is deep to you guys? lol Anyways give a drop shot a try, if theres weeds rig the worm with an EWG hook.

GLX, IMX, St. Croix Legend Xtreme...
I have heard that sensitivity is directly related to brittleness. Likewise, as sensitivity increases so does brittleness. This is heavily changed because IMO as you get a more sensitive rod (more $) people care for them more; therefore, less breakage. Anyways the top end rod companies offer great warranties encase you do break one of there rods. So that should not be too big of a factor. The GLX is top of the line, I have never had the opportunity to fish with one because it is out of my price range. So I cannot comment there. Talk about crucials and Avids and you're in my alley.

Trolling Motor Prop Question
My trolling motor is terrible in any weeds, I was looking to buy a new 3 blade prop to make it a little better. I bought the trolling motor off craigslist and don't know how old or what model it is. I am not sure what size hub my motor is. It is a 55# 12v Motorguide and I am estimating it to be from the mid 90's?

Humminbird 717 wideside sonar
I was reading about it, it seems pretty cool. I have the 727 but I dont really fish too deep so I would not need it.
