My brother was in a situation like this...he was applying to be a city cop and they had an interview where they asked tons of questions, they then invited him to be hooked up to a polygraph. He refused. What they would do is ask similar questions and once they get a lie on one of them, then you are in the system and won't be hired by many other government funded programs. So once you're in the system they can track you, any slip ups and you already have a record. The question that would have got him was...would you turn in a family member for breaking a law.

It will handle spinnerbaits perfectly. I have the 7MH and it works great. A medium might be better. Also I use it as a jig and worm and buzzbait. Well actually pretty much anything because I will walk the shore with only one rod and it will do everything.

Yeah I think you will be fine. Difference between 2500 and 4000 is pretty noticeable. But 2500 and 3000 should be too bad.

I would say use a spinning reel, its not a child's reel like a zebco and not a difficult reel like a baitcaster. He's ten and this would be the best option to start him with, easy to learn while still has great performance. JMO

Being on the water is relaxing, nature is relaxing, fishing with a worm and a bobber for bluegill is relaxing. Bass fishing is more work, but I think certain work can be mentally relaxing. Like when you tie on a new bait after not catching anything for awhile and it gets bit a few times. I find that relaxing because after stressing on not catching anything you finally get something and you feel as if you are accomplished.
