  1. I have a very similar boat. A little older, but its an 18 foot astro f/s with 115. IMO, In rough water it is not very good, I fish on lake Ontario and I was out with 3-4 foot waves and i would not recommend it. If you plan to constantly fish rough water maybe a walleye style boat would be best
  2. What about the 727? I can get one for almost $160.
  3. Anyone have a x96, they look like a good deal have seen some good reviews going to look at them today to see what its like. Also looking at the Humminbird 565, a little higher resolution and also dual beam transducer. Trying to get one for my boat mod I am doing and these to seem like good finders at a reasonable price.
  4. If durability is a main concern of yours then I would look at the shimano crucial line up. Haven't heard of many people breaking those, and if you do just send it back.
  5. x2. your bait lasts alot longer
  6. I found if you are broke he stays by your side, he comforts you as you go through a hard time. But anytime you get any money he says "You should treat yourself to this new rod, it looks really cool" and then you gotta buy it.
  7. Check Ebay, If you are patient you can find a new Citica 200e for $90. As for rods, look on the forums flea market, you can find some great deals. I have gotten a few rods that are pretty much new for close to half price. So for your price point you might be able to find a Shimano compre or St croix Premier.
  8. Sure. For smallmouth it is more location. Just find them with some bait and you'll be set. Summer go deeper and find humps and try a drop shot or draggin' a tube. Also I have heard jigging spoons are great.
  9. After fishing fast I would then slow down, Which one you use could depend on the cover. If I am near matted grass I will use a heavy weighted creature bait like the woolybug, If it is around wood cover I like the worm a little more, with maybe an 1/8th or 3/16ths oz weight. And if I am up near docks I like a weightless fluke skipped way up under and worked back in a pull twitch pause method. It will differ for every situation and every angler.
  10. Well you could, sorta. I have a Ford Taurus wagon, and it pulls a 18ft f/s with a 115, It struggles and when it gets going it doesnt wanna stop. Probably very unsafe. Tongue weight is also a major problem it pulls down the whole back of the car and bottoms out quite often. I'm sure it will ruin the shocks. So tell your girlfriend either wait till one of you has a truck or risk driving an unsafe car that will most likely break due to the stress on the car. Just my .02 cents Only reason I use my car is because I tow it once a year to my cottage and leave it there.
  11. x2 but more like 2045 lol

Try the ponds down at durand. Great fishing. Pulled a few 6# hogs out of there, and many 3-4 pounders. Ponds also have some monster pike and carp, and if you went plenty of bluegill and crappie.
  13. Look at carrot stix and crucials.

Welcome! I am from Rochester. Where do you fish usually?
  15. It should work, I have a 55lb on my 18ft f/s, and it moves it around nicely. I can imagine yours is alot lighter than mine too. But if you can try to bump it up, you can never have too much power.
  16. I have one that is in lightly used condition, mechanically it is fine, How much do you think I could sell this for? Also would it be better to use the older Bantam or buy a new Citica 201e or maybe Curado 201e7? I guess I could use the bantam but just wondering what my options are. thanks
  17. Where do you find custom parts for your reels? I see many reels with cork knobs and swept handles, upgraded bearings ect. Where do I find this kind of stuff?
  18. Well if you don't like it, I'll take it off your hands, I can pay shipping
  19. Well whatever you do I would not pay $180 and shipping, you can find many stores that do free shipping, and some that have it for $150. Also go to a dicks sporting goods, they have them there, bring a coupon I think there are some for $20 off $100 or more so that would bring you around $150.
  20. Check Ebay. You can find them around $150 TYD
  21. Go wayy back. Grab a shiner and a bobber and just try to catch fish. Or start even further back and maybe some worms and go after bluegill. Start with basics and work up. Look at it this way even if you are just catching bluegills, your confidence in fishing goes up, you start having fun, and once you are having fun I find fishing gets easier. Also try to find a club or a friend who will fish, a fishing partner makes me fish better IMO. I am very competitive and when I go out with a friend, I work so hard to catch more/bigger fish than him, which keeps me focused.
  22. Something about pushing a little black thing next to the handle in while turning the handle. Idk. Try a search Ik it was on here awhile ago
