Harshman, If your paint is getting real thick you probably have moisture in it. I had this problem with some watermelon and black. my 2 worst colors to deal with. I just left them open for awhile and ran them through the fluid bed allowing the air to mix and draw out the moisture. Fixed the problem. Making sure you have a good air flow and powdery loose powder is critical too. Otherwise the paint will glob. With the right combination you should just have a very thin layer of paint. With bigger hooks you can just leave the powder coat on their because they wont clog up. FC, it wont hurt them. I've done alot of hooks and never had a problem. alot of your jig companies use powder coat. Its durable, easy, and doesnt have a stinch like vinyl paint. Also make sure your powder is well stirred or it will get gloppy and when you clean your eyes you will chip the paint off the sides on some types of heads. #2 Spike it. its the brightest I've seen

Save your money on the books for bass jigs. Its not difficult at all. Very simple. You can learn everything you need to know from here and Tackleunderground. Any questions on jigs I will be more then willing to help. As for the hydrosilk. Never seen it but on earthworm77's site. Its one thing I can not find. Do it molds are probably the best for the money. Shawncollins makes good ones from everyones recommendations (I've never used him) but custom are usually $$. Do its are about 30 bucks. As far as material. Almost everything I get now comes from Barlows. Some comes from Janns and stamina.

Want to hear a funny one. My mom was at BPS once, standing on one of those bridges looking at the fish below. Phone rang and she started digging it out of her purse. Well guess what. I've been thinking about this topic all morning and how to reply. Here is my biggest complaint and has been really getting on my nerves lately. Happens alot on all boards not just this one, and yes I am guilty of this one too. Sarcastic remarks, I believe are causing this aggrevation between senior members. As I said I've done it too but I guess I have started to refrain more and have been getting aggrevated more with them. These remarks are thread killers and some topics have been good and real informative until a sarcastic remark. Then its all down hill. Is there a time and place for some fun with sarcastic remarks? yes but keeping it in the everything else would be nice.

Isnt that a risk of the job? So I guess a firefighter could sue if he gets burned, a emt could sue if they fall carrying someone? Where does it end. Same here. Reason is I like the multi species. Reading the same bass articles over and over gets kinda boring when most of them are sales adds.

Glenn, I understand your second post alot better. You are in a tough spot, I'm a mod on a couple other forums and I do agree its a lose/lose situation. Out of the beaten topics the senko does cause the most chaos. Loomis/kistler debats are bad or use to be, the best rod/tackle debates are another one. When to pull the trigger is a very difficult decision. Since I know most of the board is following this topic I will bring this out. Personally, I wouldnt mind if the senko topics stayed. With that said I dont understand why some take such offense when someone recommends some other substitute. This whole industry is based on confidence and personal favorites, especially lures. if one works better then that is good for the fisherman. No reason to get your panties in a bundle if someone else doesnt agree with the favored lure. Its fishing for God's sake. Not like your kid is in pain, or you just cut your finger off. I've learned alot about plastics since I started pouring my own. Densities and flexibility can obviously change the way a bait works. They all have good and bads about them. Thats why there are 1k different types of plastics. its all about learning how to put the pro's of a bait to work for you. Some baits dont work for everyone or every situation. Once this is realised by the fisherman, them more sucess he or she will have. Ok done soap boxing now

I went through this very same issue on a different forum awhile back. I have mixed feelings in the whole "search function" or "see articles or stickies." One side of me says people need to do research first, which I do agree with. But the research on some topics doesnt always yield an answer. Or the person asking may not know what to ask specifically. But with that said. Us members that have been here awhile have seen just about everything. Which in turn could close almost all topics. Some real beaten horses: Fat Ikas, jigs, swimbaits, chatterbaits, senkos. We can not forget about the fisherman and women that are just getting into the fishing sport. We do not want to drive them away, but we do need to help guide them. Its not my decision on the board policy that is up to the mods and Glenn. All I do ask is that it is tastefully and respectfully done.

I dont know if it was the best but it was dang good. Best show on tv.
