Why is the truth so funny?

I have Quantums and Shimanos. It was a toss up but I voted for Quantum because I feel like they get a bad rap, and I knew Shimano would have no shortage of votes.

I actually can't stand NASCAR, but it is undeniably the biggest sports success story in recent history. Giving fans a way to show who they support would be good for the sport even if some people don't like it. There are always people who don't want to see things change but for the sport to grow things will have to change. IMO the growth of the sport ( both professionally and on the amateur level) is good for all people who love to fish weather they follow pro fishing or not. I was not comparing the Elite series to Nascar, but it is obvious that ESPN has borrowed ideas from other successful sports like NASCAR. The motocross style jerseys, wrapped boats, and big weigh-ins with loud music are all things that have nothing to do with actual fishing. They are just there to draw an audience and some people will like them and some won't. My point was that from a marketing standpoint this was a good idea.

Save up 30 more $ and buy a Saros. It will match perfectly with your crucial - Thats what I have on mine.

If "just catching fish" then why do you need a rod and reel for ? a coke can, 30 or 40 yards of line wrapped around the can, some hooks and some crawlers, that 's about all you need "just to catch fish". I prefer a cast net!

Terminator and Hawg Caller. White or firetiger. Blades depend on conditions. I wish all spinnerbaits had titanium wire.

Probably wouldn't make a difference - KVD would probably win that too!

Has anyone else used these. May be the perfect box for cranks, hard jerk baits, topwaters etc. Same dimensions as 3700 but only1.38" deep instead of 2" so you can fit more boxes in less space (also the thinner box keeps baits from moving around). The box has almost infinite divider notches as well as straight and slanted dividers so you can custom size the compartments for any bait. The box is also made in the standard 2" depth but I like the thinner one - Even DD22's fit in it. Very flexible and almost no wasted space with one bait per compartment. The only problem is Dick's only had one left and I have not seen them anywhere else. I am going to change out all of my boxes as soon as I can get more. The best part is these are half the price of Falcon boxes.

Thanks for the answer. It really makes sense that ESPN/BASS would push this as part of a larger effort to market the anglers. IMO the Elite series has some of the most personable and interesting personalities in sports. Tim Horton is my favorite elite pro. Hopefully whatever happens he would get to keep his #1 ( maybe for being president of PAA). I wish I could get a sticker of it for my truck. I met him at Pride of Georgia and got a picture of him with my son - really nice guy.

I just hope they don't all end up on heroin and break up!

I'm not a drywall finisher, but I am a homebuilder who has had to deal with drywall repair. I would add two screws - one about 1" above the old nail hole one 1" below. Definitely remove the old nail. Use 1-5/8" drywall screws ( to minimize the risk of hitting plumbing, wires etc) and do not drive them too deeply (You want the screw head to be just barely below the surface but you do not want to break the paper surface). Hit the old nail hole with a hammer just hard enough to dimple the surface and then fill the dimple and the screw head holes with mud using a 4" flexible drywall knife. Skimcoat the entire area where the three holes are, let dry and sand- repeat if necessary. Do not try to fill the holes individually - they will be more likely to show through the paint this way. Why do a few elite pro's have numbers on their boats and in some of their marketing kind of like Nascar drivers ( ex. Timmy Horton #1, Denny Brauer #7)? Is this a marketing idea that only certain pro's decided to use or is it related to a certain sponsor or is there some other reason for them? IMO this is a good idea, and it would be nice if all elite pros had one. Fans could have stickers with their favorite pro's # on their truck, car etc to show others who they pull for. I am new to following pro bass fishing so please forgive me if this is a stupid question. My sons got me into it when they had the Classic here in February ( I live near lake Hartwell). I enjoyed it so much that we went to the Pride of Georgia and had a great time.

I love my three Energy PT's. I have not had any problems with them. I am having a hard time not buying a tour for $129. I don't think there is a better deal on a reel right now.

Thanks RM, This is what the guy at my local tackle store said also when I tried to bring it back today. I was comparing the reel to my Stradic 4000 which is what made me think something was wrong. I kept the Saros, I'll just learn to live with this little glitch. Not a big deal as long as I know everything is as it should be. I love the reel otherwise. BTW I tested several Stradics and Saros' today and while the Stradics also do this, it is not as noticeable (it's harder to catch it at the right spot with the Stradic). I have 5 also. 2 spinning, 3 Baitcasters.

I plan to tomorrow. I guess I'm just curious as to what is wrong, if it is a common problem, design flaw, etc. I wonder if I should upgrade to a Stradic or get a different brand of reel. I know everyone loves Shimano, but this is the first time I've had a problem with a new reel.

My wife let me buy my own fathers day present so I bought a Shimano Saros 3000 and a Crucial 6'8" dropshot rod. While casting it in the yard I noticed a problem with it. Sometimes the bail does not click open and when this happens it doesn't want to close properly. I am closing the bail by hand. It appears that this happens when the non roller side of the bail is almost in alignment with the handle. It doesn't do this at any other position. At this position the bail does not open smoothly and will stay open but will not click. Anyone have any ideas?

I have 10# Elite on my Stradic 4000 and it woks great. No problems with wind knots, loops etc. Knots seem to be as strong as I could expect. Very good line. I can't comment on the supreme - I haven't used it.

Get the Crucial. I almost bought the rod you are looking at yesterday, but I decided that I needed a new spinning rod more than another baitcaster. I still bought a Crucial (my third) - a 68 medium dropshot spinning with a Saros 3000. I am extremely happy with all of my Crucial rods, for the price I don't think they can be beat. I buy all of my rods from my local tackle store. His pricing is usually the exactly same as BPS, especially on rods and reels (sometimes cheaper). I like being able to see the actual rod I'm getting and I like supporting a local business.

How do the standard Chronarch and the MG compare? I know the MG is much lighter, but what are the other differences. I am planning to get one soon, but was planning on the regular Chronarch.

What will fill the gap between a $140 Curado and a $260 Chronarch?

I just bought two Energys for $179 less $50 rebate for a net cost of $129 each last month. A local tackle store had the Tour Edition on sale for $129 starting last Thursday so you would have been able to get the rebate as well for an $80 net cost. It was hard for me to not buy one, but I have 3 energys and I want to get a Zillion or Chronarch next. I love my Quantums, I just want to try something different.
