  1. Hey Kelley- Do you ever get way up north to the Wisconsin border? Maybe you could pick Uncle Leo up on the way and Brian can shoot down and we can make a day or even a weekend out of it. Guys?
  2. To quote Hank Hill : "Soccer isn't even a real sport. It's what the kids play that can't play Baseball, Football or Basketball" However, after being forced to play it in gym class it is a very physically demanding sport. But like R.W. said, I'd rather watch paint dry. Definitely rather watch women's beach volleyball. Congrats to U.S team though!!
  3. I jab the rod into the water and try to move the fish 90 degrees to where it looked like it was headed to maintain tension and not give them that split second they need the throw the bait. I always try to turn them at a right angle to where they are headed. They do still jump even if you stick the rod in the water though. Don't lose too many outside of broken line due to snags or laziness and not re-tying.

Congrats Mook! Couldn't have been easy. I know this doesn't compare, but when I quit smoking 100 years ago, I quit cold turkey and at first it was hard but now when I smell cigarette smoke I want to puke.

They do this to kids nowdays, they are really getting them ready for the real world and adult drugs. The whole country will be zombies in 20 yrs I have to ask. Who are "they"? And where?
  6. Hey Kent- You can send me those Owners if you don't want them. I use both and don't have any issues with either. Owners do seem sharper right out of the package though. CWB, you are such a philanthropic mendicant. As I recall, you also offered to relieve me of the burden of some baits I wasn't using. ;D If I knew what that meant, I might be insulted. Just trying to help you guys out.
  7. Don't let the temperature scare you away from shallow docks. Try skipping a senko or tube under the docks or boats around them. Had some of my best days doing this. You can tell pretty quick if this pattern will hold up. Run a dozen docks and if you don't get a hit, follow everyone else out to deep water. If it's on, you'll usually have this all to yourself, unless I'm on the lake with you. Remember-temperature does have some effect on where bass will set up but if they are under a dock or boat in the shade, they are fine. Plenty of big bass caught down south in very warm water from shallow areas.

Anywhere, any time. Springtime is best though. Throw it deep or shallow. the fish will find it. Not best for heavy cover though.
  9. X2 People automatically think lizard. On the Roadtrip at KY Lake, Uncle Leo was dragging a senko and a 10" anaconda. If I recall, he smoked me that day. If I had to go with one bait it would be the RageTail Lizard hands down. Best leg action for c-rigging and any other rigging for that matter but no lizard I have tried has any leg action when dragging a c-rig slowly along the bottom except the RageTail. JMHO
  10. Just found this in the camera. Not a bass but pretty decent 'gill on 4" senko.
  11. Chris- That's a beauty! The DNR added redear to my home lake a few years back to hopefully control the Zebra mussels. Jury still out on that but they get pretty big and put up a good fight! I just added a pic of a what I think is a bull gill caught last Saturday to my earlier thread. I haven't seen a redear that dark before.
  12. Do this test. Push the weedguard down so it goes past the hook a few times. If you feel any of the fibers stick on the hook, this means it could happen on the hookset and cost you fish. What I then do is trim the guard so when I push it down it will be just short enough to not touch the hookpoint. Jig will still be plenty snag-free but no worries about missing hookups. Each jig is different so I do this with all. If guard goes past the hook a few times without catching, I just leave it alone. Always spread it apart also.
  13. Both will get you bit. If you go with a lizard, try the RageTail. No other lizard can match its leg action. On most lizards the legs don't move unless you hop them or jig them pretty fast. Did a quick test on a Carolina rig in clear water just dragging the bait. Zoom lizards legs did nothing. RageTail lizards legs kicked up a storm. JMHO
  14. There's probably a bunch there now. Bass tend to cruise the shorelines and will stop anywhere they can find shelter and food. Sounds like you're sitting on a potential honeyhole!
  15. Funny but I just was stopped this past weekend, in the middle of a frenzy of good size bass. I couldn't find my whistle but they let me slide with a warning. That was the first time in over 6 years I have been stopped.
  16. BPS Fritts Crankin reel. I think it's $89.00. Friend of mine has one and you can throw a 1/4 oz crank a mile. I'm waiting for them to go on sale and grab one myself.
  17. Maybe they just recognize a MOOK when they see one! Twice in one day. I've started calling people at work MOOKs and they give me funny looks.
  18. I always print out what's on sale from the website and take it with me. Worst that can happen is they say no. Usually the checker will call the manager over and to avoid a fuss, they'll honor it. Mooks out east might be different. Muddy, I have been waiting to use the word MOOK and finally got my chance!
  19. Looks cool anyway.
  20. Coffee smell or not, they catch fish. They also come in my 2 favorite colors: Black with Blue tail and Green Pumpkin with Chartreuse tail. 4.5" my favorite.
  21. Hey Kent- You can send me those Owners if you don't want them. I use both and don't have any issues with either. Owners do seem sharper right out of the package though.
  22. Hey GP- One of my vendors just told me he get ticket to Miller Park maybe 10 times a year. Right behind 3rd about 10 rows up. He says they are usually night games and offered me 2 but I can't get up there and get back and still be in bed by 9:00. And obviously they won't be for when the Cubs visit as they help sell out wherever they play. P.M. me if your interested. Hate to see them go to waste or to some non-fan if you know what I mean.
  23. And the Cards have woke up!!! Feasting on K.C. is not exactly what I call waking up. OOPS. Just took a little nap against the Mets. Cubs didn't do much better though. :-[ GP- I think you mean the Cubs have been notching some big come from behind wins.
  24. It's a good thing the pictures aren't Scratch and Sniff. It was 85 and super humid. Went though 4 shirts in 2 days. My deodorant wasn't holding up.
  25. Looks like a swimbait that got run over by a truck. ;D
