Not a political statement but just a thought. The idea of using beer for waterboarding was brought up in an earlier thread by my good friend from Wisconsin (where else). It got me thinking. I know alot of people believe waterboarding is torture but our politicians, at least a good percentage of them don't get it. If this technique can result in information that saves American lives, go for it. Anyway to appease our leaders why not use Beerboarding? I believe they would get much better results anyway. Who doesn't blab when they are 3 sheets to the wind. They would probably tell you what you need to know and alot you don't. I'm sure you would find some of them were sleeping with Pamela Anderson or have been with Paris Hilton. I think we should all write our Congressman and Women and promote this. Let's start a campaign. Brian can supply the cheese for when the beerboardings are over. Who doesn't like cheese with beer? ;D ;D

It comes in a clamshell pack so if it's not stapled shut, open one up and smell it. You'll live. It's not as bad as JJ's. Might have a slight garlic scent but should be more fishy. Don't forget about the Yamamoto stuff which should be right next to it. There could be a date code on the package or tube somewhere also.

I'm in the same boat as you, literally. If you don't get to your best spot first, there will be boats sitting on it when you arrive. I don't completely abandon visible cover but usually either hit it first thing or later in the day or if there was some change in conditions like wind shift or such. It would be worth you while to spend some time on deeper structure such as weedlines or ledges and humps. GPS them or make a mental note. If you find a good offshore spot, you will be golden. Try not to let anyone see you land your fish or they will cruise over when you leave and hit a waypoint.

One of the tourney's I finished second in I had a boat in front of me with a team throwing that d**n Sexy Shad Red Eye's and I caught 6 fish behind them. We were both just chunking and winding in a 5' stump field. One of which was the lunker for the T, 4.5. I have never touched an Excalibur so I can't say anything. I just know they wear out LC's, SK's, and Bill Lewis ones. For colors I love the Natural Shad and Perch colors. Might be conditioning to a certain color or sound. I can't buy a fish on a Rattle Trap and don't even throw them anymore. Excalibur are my new favorite. Tried and true Super Spot in Chrome/Blue Back still slays 'em around here. Congrats on second place finish and big fish! Great job.

Lucky Craft RC original series are silent. I think the Bomber Balsa B's are silent. Shallow Shad Rap (not X-Rap). And like Skunked said, don't forget to try the Thin Fin. It hasn't been around as long as it has for nothing.

YUP my $5 rapalas do all i need and if they aint doin it then my manns worms will .I will say this though RAGE TAILS are absolutely worth every penny Well put both of you. X2 on the Rage Tails. I have heard good things about this bait, although I do not own one. Congrats on your success! Not to disparage the Aruku Shad, but I suspect that if you would have thrown an Excalibur XR-50 or Redeye Shad you would have gotten the same results. Fish were definitely on a rattlebait bite. JMHO. That being said, I did just check them out at Tackle Warehouse.

I usually target the deeper weed flats outside spawning areas. Plastics or jigs work but last year I had pretty good luck slowly swimming a 4.5" Shadalicious swimbait through the weeds.

None if it's smart. But alas, fish aren't too bright. A few years back I hooked a nice bass on a Sluggo and he wrapped me around a pad stem and broke off. Next cast to same spot, hooked and landed the same fish and as a bonus got my Sluggo and hook back.
