  1. Don't forget that even some new hooks are not always sharp. Stick it into you thumbnail and if it penetrates without too much pressure you're good to go. Don't push too hard or you'll be in pain and bleeding If a hook does not pass this test I use a stone, not a file to hone the point. I work for a machine shop so I have access to them and do it at lunchtime. http://metalworking.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNPDFF?PMPAGE=1629&PARTPG=MWSRCH&PMITEM=00578005&PMCTLG=54&PMT4TP=*LTIP I use style EE in medium. Files remove too much and shorten the life of the hook. Unless the tip is bent over or broke off, you can sharpen it as good or better than new. I check all hooks on every lure I buy.
  2. I do alot of snorkeling on my home lake when its warm enough and you do get a pretty good insight on how bass are relating to cover such as docks, boats, weedlines and pockets etc. Did I mention the bonus of the treasures you are bound to find hung on mooring lines and pier posts etc?
  3. Sounds like you need to get your priorities in order. ;D
  4. Spinning gear should work fine. Conventional wisdom does say mono is best as it does not sink but with spooks and other walk the dog baits, it's probably not that big a deal as your line will not get a chance to sink. Bait is constantly moving.
  5. Send it to me. I'm under 18 (In dog years) ;D ;D
  6. Go to Tackle Warehouse's site and choose soft baits/stick baits/senko. They don't carry all colors but what they have you can click on and see a full body bait in the color you pick. Same for almost all baits they sell. I use their site alot to check colors against little samples like GYCB chart. Hope this helps.
  7. I always thought Boomhauer was the main guy. We gave you the current Pres. Not sure if good or bad but indications so far are... Wait. No politics.
  8. Yeah, but at least the Illini got to share a field with LSU in the 2002 Sugar Bowl. It is one of the highest honors for LSU to trounce you in a bowl game ;D ;D ;D I still remember the Illini trouncing LSU when they had Shaq playing for them. One of their most memorable games.
  9. Mega strike. Really attracts the better quality girls. :D
  10. Snagproof Bobby's Perfect Frog. Boze Sumo Frog. Spro Bronze Eye. Sumfrog Trophy. All are 3/8 oz. + and work.

X-rap. Great bait and plenty of colors and sizes. Pointers. Little pricey. Don't forget old standard Rogues and Long A's
  12. No good at all. Send them to me immediately! Great all around bait. T-rig, trailer, I go thru alot of them each year.
  13. You don't say how long the bed is but I have a 6' bed and I wrap the outfits in the thick moving blankets you use to protest all you wife's valuable stuff when moving. Rubber band around ends and lay on angle. Option 2- put wife in back and put butt of rods on dash and run the tops out the back window and have wife hold tips so they don't bang around. Good luck.
  14. Check out Zoom's G-Tail. Zoom has every color under the sun.
  15. I would use 4/0 for 7" and 5/0 for 10". I've been slowly moving towards Owner old school round bend offset shank hooks for my plastics and seem to have fewer fish get off. Also hook is closer to bait for more realistic profile. No dropoff in hookups either.
  16. They would have probably sued Bass Pro and won. I might have inadvertently knocked one or both of them down as they were running away. It would have been an accident.
  17. Woooooo! Nature boy is 100% correct. Make sure if you really start to get into it you take the reel apart in a clean space, preferably inside a box so when the inevitable part is dropped or spring goes flying, you can find it. Make notes of how it came apart and reverse procedure to re-assemble. DO NOT OVER OIL. Clean all gunk off spool shaft and shims at both sides of spool shaft prior to re-assemble. I always take apart my new reels also to be sure they are lubed properly. Cleaning grease from the bearings or adding a drop of oil to dry bearings will turn a reel you might think is a dud into a great performer. Check if there is some grease on gears also. Could eliminate squeaking. More often then not, this could save you a trip to the store to return it. Can't overcome just a plain old dud though.
  18. Check each company's website that you might be interested in buying. Most if not all will list dia. per lb. test. Also BPS and Cabelas list diameter for the lines they sell. Tackle Warehouse has pretty detailed sizes also. If you can afford it, Sunline is probably the smallest per lb. test. 25 lb SN mono is .015. $11.99 for 330 yds. Not that bad.
  19. Like every one else said, take out what you think you might need for a days use and put them in your box or tackle bag. Keep the bulk of them in their original bags to keep the colors from running and keep them soaking in whatever scent they came with. DO NOT put Elaztech baits from Strike King or Z-Man in anything but their original packaging unless you want a big ball of slop. Mixing them with regular plastics causes both to melt faster than the wicked witch in the Wizard Of Oz.
  20. The bass here have been conditioned to only "Bite American" to help get us out of this recession.

Can't go wrong with Paca's but give the Rage Craws a try. Last time I was at Dick's they were $4.99 a bag. I wouldn't spend the money on "Money Craws" either. Maybe that's how they got their name- How much of it they cost. ;D
  22. I still have a nice stash oh the larger Pop-R's and am not selling any!
  23. Just got some Mann's Elite C-4's and can't wait to use them. Norman or Bomber are always good. Been using Bandit more and more though. What depth are you using them in?
  24. I don't know that rattles will help but they cant hurt. It might mimic the sound a crawfish makes scurrying across the bottom. Try both ways and decide what works best for you.
  25. The Cubs haven't won the World Series in 100 years. Our Governor was just impeached and thrown out of office. :-[
