Lucky Craft Jerkbait Question
Any second now Dwight Hottle, who also knows a little about jerkbaits, is going reply here to pass on how he's managed to catch a few decent smallies now & then while using 10lb braid as well. I do believe he utilizes a leader, but I'll let him tell you about it. A-Jay

Lucky Craft Jerkbait Question
The Pointer 100DD is Great Deep Bait. And as for 20lb killing the action - check for yourself but I've taken 9lb + bass on a Pointer 128 using 20lb mono. A-Jay

Swimbait Rod Help
Hello & Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I have the Okuma Big Bait Rod 7'6" Heavy GS-C-761H. I fish many of the same baits. This is a Great all around big bait rod with the power you need to throw heavy lures and the action that will allow you to fish lighter baits as well. A-Jay

Huddleston Shad
I have them. You are correct, they are a very subtle type bait and quite light (don't know the exact weight). I fish them super shallow on MH spinning gear. In clear water I'm making very long casts (with Braid) right to the bank usually, or over a very shallow hump, and crawling it back to the boat. It does make a sweet mellow wake bait for those very calm flat quiet mornings. A-Jay

Who Makes The Lightest Rod?
Pitching baits & throwing frogs usually means fishing in pretty heavy cover. Accordingly the fish are routinely not "played" but more like winched out of a small spot or hole. For this, I actually do not want a very light rod, rather have a very strong rod. So the actual weight is less of a concern. Fishing like a human crane may require the equipment to have a little mass. Besides with a name like yours, who needs Light. A-Jay

A Nice One.
Let's think about this for a moment. If nothing else just to realize just how special & rare that fish actually is. I'd like to stop for a second and think about how many people fish for bass: the time, money & effort expended, all over this country and around the world - AND THIS is the biggest of the BIG. And there's no disputing this one - because there it is - in living color - on the scale. Just Fantastic. A-Jay

Broke My Rod. Wish Me Luck
This topic has been covered in detail here before. I would be in favor of any of the Brands I use to go to a 30 day warranty against flaws & defects as long as the initial price reflects that. Meaning, let's do away with the inflated prices we're paying now to cover the extended warranties now offered. The typical first trip or so early blank failure would be realized & covered. After that, if I am not careful with my equipment and it causes a failure, I do not expect the company to replace it. That's on me. However I don't want to pay double for the item to account for it either. A-Jay
