  3. Diagonal cutters are popular cutting pliers and are offered in a large variety of lengths, shapes and cutting edges for different materials. Center Cutters provide good stability at the cutting edges combined with a favorable cutting edge angle, i.e. a relatively small amount of force is needed to penetrate and "split" the wire. Consequently, the amount of hand pressure required is also reduced. I am partial to the light weight & slim handle design of Model # 7112200 - I also like the spring loaded feature making one hand operation easier. Link includes decent video. 15. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource A flipping switch is a setting that allows you to hold down the thumb bar and flip, then as soon as you release the thumb bar the reel is already engaged without turning the reel handle. It can save you from losing a fish that takes the bait immediately before you have time to turn the reel handle that engages the reel. I usually leave mine in the 'off' or normal position while flipping and especially while pitching. Some people find a Flipping switch more annoying than convenient. Others always use it. The flipping switch is a no-brainer that few people ever use more than a couple of times although when they first came out on baitcasters, everyone had to have it. A-Jay
  16. Right from the Texas Parks & Wildlife web site ~ How do I find out if there are any special water safety regulations on waters I want to visit? The rules in the Texas Water Safety Act apply to all public water in Texas. The local governing body of incorporated cities or towns, county commissioners courts, and political subdivisions can pass rules relating to restricted areas and the operation and equipment of boats it deems necessary for the public safety. You must contact the entity in charge to determine if any special rules apply. Find the local governing entity for a specific water body. A-Jay
  17. I don't use frog style baits for Smallies - Doesn't mean they don't catch, it's just that very few if any of my smallie top water action happens right in cover where I'd need a weedless bait. Popper, spooks, chuggers & wake baits all with trebles do all the surface damage for me. So, no frog recommendations, sorry. A-Jay

The First "Stick" bait I ever fished. Fish it like a Senko: Weightless Texas rigged - Or ever wacky with a small weight. Can be presented on a jig head, a Drop shot, a Carolina rig, and just about any other way you can think to rig it. That Bubblegum is a Killer Smallmouth color btw - especially Pre-Spawn. Good Luck A-Jay
  19. Good for you & I'm officially Jealous. Keep at it - I know you will. A-Jay
  20. Perfect. A-Jay
  21. Fishing alone with a hook in your dominate hand really limits one's options. The Knipex is a powerful tool that can be manipulated to successful clip the largest hook you'll use, with your weak hand only. Definitely Worth the price of a few crankbaits. A-Jay
  22. The Jury is still out on this one. Further deliberation will be required before a verdict can be confidently rendered. A-Jay
  23. I have one And it Will be accompanying me when I travel over your way to help document any & all action during this years most anticipated Lake Erie Giant Smallmouth Pre-Spawn Challenge. A-Jay
  24. You may want to consider heavier line. 20 lb mono at least. A-Jay
  25. There's really only one choice for me - Knipex Hook Cutters. They cost more but they're worth it because they work. Choose a model you can use correctly with your weak / off hand. A-Jay
