  1. On the retrieve and it's not even close - probably like 95% You mentioned you're using a Rodent as a trailer. Though a nice plastic, that bait is Not really a good Swimmer. For me that style bait works excellent on the drop which might explain your results. Baits like a Skinny Dipper, Little Dipper, A grub, an Eeliminator, even a Swim Senko offer a presentation that adds quite a bit to the action of a swim jig. Good Luck A-Jay
  2. X2 ~ I am really enjoying this rod. A-Jay
  3. Finding & catching Summer time Smallmouth can be tough. But yesterday, deep cranking was working right in the middle of the day. Dodging the ski boats & jet skis just made it more interesting . . A-Jay
  4. Nice Smallie ~ A-Jay
  5. Try a 4.5" or a 5" Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits Swimming Senko - Seems to work OK for Brett Hite. http://www.flwoutdoors.com/fishing-articles/155693/the-chatter-that-matters/#.U8iXP02mf8c A-Jay
  6. Nice Stroke ~ A-Jay
  7. Hello and Welcome to BR ~ A-Jay
  8. Perhaps using your sounder you could locate hard bottom areas inside, outside and even with in the aquatic growth ? At times, that's a magnet - especially if the majority of the lakes bottom composition is mush. Just a thought. A-Jay
  9. How's this - My Technique Specific Spinner Bait Rod - that I usually use for target casting jigs, was recent found to be a very good square bill crank bait rod. I'm All Over the Place . . . . . A-Jay
  10. Tanker Alert ~ ! Nice one. A-Jay
  11. Not to me either - shame really. It's certainly a nice smallie but the photo doesn't replicate a 8 1/2 plus pound fish . . . . . . Additionally, the story, the way the girth was "measured", the discarding of the fish, it just makes me shake my head while making the "I think I just stepped in something" face. A-Jay

  13. I guess ~ Nice Megabass stick there ~ get that at Wal-Mart did ya ? A-Jay
  14. I'm a milfoil fan - might even be a Groupie . . . . Really get excited when it's in isolated patches, adjacent to or on a deep edge. And when it's mixed with some cabbage weed could be a Honey Hole . . . . . A-Jay
  15. Just to let you guys know - My Birthday happens to be coming up next month. So if any of you very nice & extremely generous fellas would like to bless me with a gift, this would make a really, really nice one. A-Jay
  16. Sorry to hear you've been Hurt ~ Glad to known you're on the mend. Remember you only get ONE chance to heal it up right. Sometimes set backs happen, but a huge number of them are self induced. "Testing it" is a very bad idea. Follow your Doctors orders. Youth is on your side and you'll be slamming bass in no time. A-Jay
  17. Nice Musky Speed ~ Bummer about the bite off - might want to do with steel leader. A-Jay

  20. Initially, what is it that you want this unit to do for you ? The answer(s) should help you both decide if you need one as well as which features you'll need the unit to have if you find that you do. Depending on the depth & water clarity and how well you know the bodies of water you're fishing, it could help you locate, subtle structure changes, pieces of cover and hard bottom areas; especially on new lakes you might fish. As for using the unit to pin point the actual location of bass, you might be better served looking for the above listed features first. A-Jay
  21. Nice ~ That's some solid work right there . . . A-Jay
  22. I don't have "neighbors" and my dogs announce the presents of anyone & anything inside & out well in advance of their arrival. If one is motivated enough to get by the dogs, the 870 Tactical Express will put an abrupt, all be it really messy, end to it - and at such a minimal range slugs or buck shot, it doesn't really matter. 24. Well said. Good for you . . . . A-Jay Though this young man who's post you referred to, may be short on years, his response here indicates quite a bit of wisdom in my book. A-Jay
