  2. This thread reminded me of an excerpt from the book In Pursuit of Giant Bass. There are many opinions on the subject. I agree with the author. Bill Murphy wrote; “Most people today lead hectic lives. They live in cities and have problems at home and work. But then they go fishing and expect everything to work out fine. Big bass fishing isn’t a jock sport, there’s little strength involved. Big bass fishing is an attitude sport. If your life is in turmoil, so is your bass fishing. If you’ve got your life together, your bass fishing picks up. You can divorce yourself from your life, and bass fishing can be your way out, but people that are the very best bass fisherman seem to have the rest of their life in order too." A-Jay

  4. I did - and I'm hoping that I can be there when the next "best day" happens. When it comes to smallmouth fishing big water, the man is a pioneer. A-Jay
  5. Might be a question to ask the manufacturer. I've always been very satisfied with the quality of all their products; in both fresh & saltwater applications. A-Jay
  6. That initial Bite to the back neck was not only a good spot to grip the croc to avoid any damage but also if the cat's canine teeth were of sufficient length & positioned in such a way, that there may be a good bit of "Damage" done. This may have partially paralyzed the animal reducing the struggle somewhat. The size of the croc is important too, a misjudgment in this area could end up with the cat biting off more than it can chew. A wet rodeo type ride may ensue. A-Jay
  7. After what was probably some painful trial & error, looks like that cat has done that before - Very smooth with no wasted motion at all. Perhaps not the most tender meal but when play correctly, sure made it look easy. A-Jay
  8. Some Info on the Company & the Excell II line. Lamiglas is certainly not a newcomer to the fishing rod game. With a history spanning back over 50 years, they have made rods for just about everything that swims. With some exceptions, many of Lamiglas' offerings have had a very traditional look to them. They're looking to change that now and it begins with the redesign of one of their more popular lines. Lamiglas is making the line much more compelling that with a redesign of the entire series. The Excel II include refined tapers, Fuji SK-2 reel seats, a guide system with deep pressed inserts, and a new aqua-blue finish - all for $99. There are thirteen (13) models in the lineup, ten (10) casting and three (3) spinning. The casting models include one cranking stick and one flipping stick then three different powered seven foot sticks and four different powered seven foot three inch sticks. The spinning rods are all seven feet, one inch in length. A-Jay http://www.tackletour.com/reviewicast13lamiglas.html

  15. Spent last Friday & Saturday shoveling a healthy stack of snow off the roof. Though not a workout per se, clearly the most physically demanding evolution I participate in these days. And right on cue - we got another foot last night ~ Good Times. A-Jay
  16. Have not fished the Spro bait. I have fished the SK Red Eye Shad both the 1/2 & the 3/4 ounce here locally and really like the subtle slack line flutter the bait does. I had Four days of "Once in a Life Time" fishing with the 3/4 oz (sexy shad) this November south of the border. Upgraded Owner Split rings and Mustad Elite Trebles are standard operating procedure for me. A-Jay
