  1. X2 ~ I've been looking for a suitable somewhat beefed up wacky hook for trips south of the border. Been looking at these Kahle style hooks on line but it's hard to judge their stoutness on a monitor. I've also considered the Trokar TK9 Kahle Hook. The Kahle design offers a longer shank which might be very suitable for adding the weight without encroaching on the hook penetration. Thanks for the input. A-Jay
  2. That Cardiff is a fine reel - and a popular choice. I use the Calcutta D 200 for smaller baits and 300 for the meat. A-Jay
  3. If you incorporate a O-ring to this presentation you'll see your baits lasting a bit longer. Perhaps more importantly, there will be more hook exposed which usually translates to better / more solid hook ups. A-Jay
  4. Yes Sir ~ Picked up a Medium Spinner to complement the M, M/H & H Casting sticks. Looking to get a little more distance on the Fluke / Senko presentation. A-Jay
  5. According to the tracking info - there should be a new one in my sweaty palms to - morrow. Rebate form is on stand by. A-Jay
  6. I do this as well - depends on the weather; but definitely if it rained. There are some funny looks occasionally shot my way stripping down next to the truck. A-Jay
  7. You're welcome - I use it on the shank of the hook to weigh down spinner baits; casts better in the wind and keeps the bait down for extra speed. I also use it to make my own Weighted Swim bait hooks. A-Jay
  8. Those hooks look like they'd do the job. You could simply wind a short length of solder around the hook of your choice for your own "Custom weighted rig". I use it for a couple of different applications where a bit of weight is needed. A-Jay
  9. I too follow the Barometric pressure as well as the moon phase, so I usually know what it is daily and definitely before I go. I have certain songs that I listen to in the truck on the way, and they're different for each lake. The one thing that I do ensure prior to launching the Old Town and this might be more of a self-preservation move than a superstition - Don the PFD ~ don't like dying. A-Jay
  10. Been doing some air travel to my fishing destination recently. Accordingly, I've started the St Croix Tidemaster Inshore Travel Rod Collection. The M, M/H & H casting rods and most recently the M spinning model. Very nice. A-Jay
  11. Hang in there Blue - we're thinking of you. A-Jay
  12. BTW - Welcome to BR ~ A-Jay
  13. Check out the CHT Double Wacky Hooks ~ Though I haven't tried them yet, I plan to. They look like they might have some potential. A-Jay http://www.*.com/CHT-Double-Wacky-Hooks-p/cht-doublewacky-hook.htm
  14. Suffice it to say, that I have improved every aspect of my angling world as a result of The Bass Resource web site & forums. However, there is no doubt that the Best addition is at least Two Very Good Friends. A-Jay
  15. Is this the boat ? http://omaha.craigslist.org/boa/4172194569.html Regardless - the best thing to do is to locate and copy down the Hull Identification number off the transom of this boat. Then call Blazer Bass Boat and ask them about the design and construction of your prospective purchase. Some additional research on my part shows my initial assessment may have been incorrect. For that I apologize, but you can not go wrong if you contact the people that built the boat. Good Luck A-Jay
  16. A 25 year old boat that is built and designed around a wooden frame - is a heart ache waiting to happen. Unless this vessel has been stored inside by a collector (one owner) I would not even consider it. Wood & water and that much time - is rarely a good thing. You came here looking for advice - Here's mine - run away. There are PLENTY of good buys - keep looking. A-Jay
  17. Braid all day, every day. No stretch, Solid knot strength, Good abrasion resistance properties in everything except shark rocks, cement pilings, zebra mussels and what ever the heck those trees are on Lake Baccarac. A-Jay
  18. Buzzbaits & Burning Spinner baits - to name a couple. A-Jay
