Behavioral Differences Between Bass Species
I had not been following this thread from the beginning. I did just read all 14 pages; living in the snow belt, I've got time. Much of this may not directly answer the OP's questions but there is an abundance of very interesting info and views here; most of which is way above my pay grade. However, Toms quote above is one I can wrap my head around and routinely attempt to implement. Perhaps the single most impressive aspect of this entire thread - Is The Passion. A-Jay

Your M.o.
Interesting ~ Well right off the top, I'd say a lot would depend on what bait (and rod & reel) I was left with. There are a few basic baits that I could fish in several different conditions (seasons, depths etc.) If this bait fell in that category the result would be, my effectiveness with that bait would improve. If however, the bait that remained was a niche type bait, usually only effective at or during specific times, conditions or circumstances, I'm betting that I'd have limited success although I'd get better at fishing it than I am now, whatever it is. But there is a hidden secret in the answer to your question. Looking back at my angling history, this is how I've learned to fish every technique, presentation and bait I know. A-Jay

Crankbaits Fishing
X2 ~ Hey Jay, that reel you already have is made for cranking and is really good. It's got it all; it's small and light, has a slower gear ratio and excellent handle & grips. A-Jay

Need A New Mono
Another vote for Maxima Ultragreen - Seriously. On some sites it's called a Co-poly but according to the Company it's a mono and a very very good one. A-Jay

Favorite Bluegill Imitator?
I do not know the make & model of the rings / hooks used but it's decent. I'm a little over the top about terminal tackle and change it all out anyway. A-Jay

Favorite Bluegill Imitator?
I had a feeling that these might draw a little interest, so I was ready for you guys. I've purchased several baits from this vendor and have never been disappointed. The Owner / Operator Casey Sobczak also does some killer custom painting as well.
