    He's good like that - A-Jay
  2. When you ask "will it work?" I say there is a 2 part answer here. 1. Yes - when the correct bait, tackle & presentation is used, the lure will run to a depth at or near the bass. 2). Will they eat it ? Maybe - Sometimes, Yes & No. They all apply. So much of the time suspending fish are inactive or at the very least in a neutral mood. But find them when they active or perhaps turn on a school - could be lights out. Sometimes having bait around helps but not always. A-Jay
  3. I know this is wrong but . . . This one you think but don't actually say. To Quote Bill Cosby "it don't make no difference to me, I'll make another one look just like you." A-Jay
  4. I hear that - Done this one - My wife & I are both fishing 5 inch stick baits, The bite is pretty steady. Every time one of us catches a bass, we change colors until there is a fish caught on that color. Often times you get bite right away, sometimes it takes a while. We've not found a color that wouldn't get bit. Here's another one - Jerk bait fishing with Dwight H, (you may have heard of him :c). I can't tell you how many times this happens. He catches a smb. I change to the color he's throwing. He unhooks & releases the fish. He takes off the color that just caught and puts on a different color, same bait though. He catches right away. I'm bumming. Sometimes he'll take off the one he just caught on and give it to me, I put it on. He changes colors. He catches. I'm scrambling now . . . . . Maybe it's the motion of the ocean. A-Jay
  5. Good Eye Stitch ~ It sure is. A-Jay
  6. X2 ~ Agreed. But after lure depth, lure choice, retrieve speed, boat position, and cast placement have been considered and met to the best of one's ability; if and when there are bluegills around I have a fair level of confidence in this one. A-Jay
  7. I'd recommend 80 lb. Dacron line. No sense taking any chances. A-Jay
  8. I will openly admit that my level of jerkbait expertise pales in comparison to at least one angler I fish with on this board, and there’s a decent chance you’ll hear from him here. Like many lures, jerkbaits are pretty versatile and can be effective in different situations and conditions. I believe they are at their best in fairly clear water when water temps are on the cold to cool side; and that temp is relative to where you fish but less than 60 most of the time. The list of effective brands / models is Extensive. TW alone lists 147 different models; Overall size, Floating / suspending, rattles, shallow, mid & deep divers, and the colors / patterns are almost endless. Another way to group them is by the “speed” of their action specifically, after or during the pause when working the bait. The speed at which the bait rolls and then comes to stop then either hanging suspended or floating back to the surface can often times be an important consideration. Rapala Huskyjerks and Smithwick Rogues are on the slow side. Lucky Craft Pointer 100’s, 127’ 128’s seem to have a good mid-speed action / roll. Rapala X-Rap runs a faster erratic path through the water column. So that’s one way to think about this. Your results may vary. But there’s no denying the bait’s ability to catch trophy fish. A-Jay

Thanks ~ btw - Tucker is an Alaskan Malamute - but don't worry, I won't tell him you called him Husky . . . A-Jay
  12. I fish both stock and some custom painted baits and for me they all produce equally. I think that it makes a difference if you think it makes a difference. A-Jay
  13. Yup ~ I snagged a spool of like 22 Kazillion yards of Stren High Impact off e-bay for like six bucks. I'm good. A-Jay
  14. Really Catt - so you're trying something new ? A-Jay
  15. A parasite clip may help a little. But what makes that bait effective is the soft / supple characteristics - So if you go to a firmer bait, you may not get the bites. A-Jay http://parasiteweights.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=30
  16. I can't tell. But it involves a 1/2 ounce jig made by *** and a Rage Lobster. Ok - I guess I can tell. A-Jay

Is that the best you've got ? That's weak. A-Jay

    What is that ~ ? A-Jay
  19. If you're an angler who fishes in a multi-species environment - Do Not use an over hand knot to connect your backing. If & when your get a big trout, salmon, pike or musky on, that over hand knot will cause some serious duress during your attempt to land that fish. Meaning you'll break that fish off every time. I just read through this entire thread. Nothing surprised me. I watched this show once when it first came on. I was not a fan and did not watch it again. To agree or disagree with the beliefs and principles of the cast of the show is clearly a matter of choice. This Great Country if chock full of great thinkers, believers and people who take action. The recent barrage of reality TV shows has spawned a voice to many who are not any of those. The most realistic portion of this particular program seems to be that the events we are discussing here have in the past happened before. The greatest feature regarding a remote control is that it allows us a choice. IBTL A-Jay
  21. Never heard that one. I've always used an economically friendly mono as backing for everything. There's plenty of "could be used as backing" braid lying around the hobby shop. I'll try it - what's the worst thing that can happen ? A-Jay
  22. SWEET Reel - But 9.0:1 ~ Holy Smokes ! Go easy on the first few fish - other wise they may smack you in face on the way in . . . A-Jay
  23. NICE ~ ! You better come up with a matching fishing cap to go with the shirt. And it will have to be available in Swollen Head Size for "His Eminence". A-Jay
  24. OK - That's just about enough young man - It's December for Heavens sake - The Human Snow Shovel can only take so much . . . . . btw - that last laker is mighty perty. A-Jay
