Little Fish Or Skunked?
Without putting a pound / size on what qualifies a bass as a dink in any particular body of water / area of the country, I prefer to fish for what ever is the better than average or trophy size fish in that impoundment. I am not interested in sore lipping several Juvenal bass in the process. A skunking is a bit humbling when trying to catch smaller fish but is just part of the process when targeting larger fish. A day or a couple of completely skunked trips, indicates that I am definitely doing something wrong - so I'm learning. It doesn't mean however, that I have to actually like it. A-Jay

How's The Fishing In Your Area?
Welcome to BR Shipmate ! Your list is interesting. I was never stationed in FL, but have friends who are / have been - big time fishing opportunities - both salt & sweet water. However, Hurricane season can be brutal (no matter what your rate is). Good luck on your re-assignment and hope you have a smooth move. btw - Chose your rate - Chose your fate - A-Jay

New Member Here. Looking For Advice On Treble Hooks
I just looked up the Big Jim bait - looks allot like a wiggle wart. Those KVD trebles should be just what the doctor ordered. A-Jay

New Member Here. Looking For Advice On Treble Hooks
Welcome to BR ~ I've had very good luck with the Mustad KVD Elite Series Short Shank Triple Grip Hooks. Though I am not familiar with that particular crankbait, the short shank design of this treble might allow you to plus size your hook choice and alleviate the tangling problem at the same time. A-Jay

One Of The Last Outings This Year For Awhile
Some good fish right there. Typical fall bite though, usually a little better as the day progresses. Sweet scenery photos as well. Most do not equate that kind of landscape with New Jersey - Spent some years there myself, so I know better. Nice Job A-Jay

The Dinks And The Skunk
Well deep, sorry to see you're finding some tough fishing, but sort of glad I'm not the only one. Misery loves company. But Hey, it can only get better right ? A-Jay

One Bite & One Bass ~
Got out early this week for a couple of hours. Flat calm with cool temps both air and water. Fishing was a little slow but the vibrant colors of Autumn were appreciated. I got exactly one hit. She ate a jig/pork craw as it glided through some deep wood at the very back of a cove. After a short but spirited battle, she was surprisingly cooperative during her brief photo session. Turnover is close. A-Jay

I Need A Good Pair Of "hook Cutters"...
Although not usually part of a bass anglers gear list - but very common with the conscientious Musky crowd ~ Knipex Hook-Cutters are simply the best hook-cutters on the market today. This cutter will last you a lifetime. It cuts hooks easily with a one-handed squeeze. Two styles are available the regular model, and the model that is spring loaded with a comfort grip. A-Jay

Looking For A Silent Suspending Jerkbait
LC 95 is a smaller silent bait and has been working well for me this fall on both lmb & smb with the occasional Beefy little rainbow trout which is a tasty bonus by-catch. Rapala makes the Sub-walk which is essentially a silent suspending jerkbait. It certainly has a different profile than the classic minnow bait but does produce some decent fish for me. Sub-walk comes in three sizes. The mid-sized bait comes in at 5/8 oz and the next size up is considerably larger than that. I used the big one for plus size pike in the late fall. A-Jay

So What Kind Are You?
That's a funny article ~ Like many, I guess I'd be a little of a few of theses - I've got some "Mad Scientist" going on. At times the "Lock Jaw" kicks in. Many trips I feel like a "Reverse Bank Beater" - spending much of the trip fishing the entire perimeter of the lake (from the Old Town). Most of this season (and any time I fish with Dwight) Complete "Newbie". And I'll add a new one - "Tackle Jackal" The guy who's gear Must be Cleaned, Maintained and looking new at all times - before during and directly after every and all fishing trips. A-Jay

Bit Of A Rant / Vent
Yea this incident with the truck was a bummer. Earlier in the week, we had some challenges arise surrounding my wife's health, so Life seemed to be piling it on us a pretty good. As is often the case, it wasn't as bad as it looked. (But still rubbed me the wrong way) I managed to buff / polish the majority of it out. I had purchased a professional buffing machine when I bought my GTO a few years back, and it has come in very handy since. Truth be told, I think I polish the car more than I drive it - there's something wrong with me . . . . . . A-Jay

A Nice Pair
Cool photo Dwight and a very encouraging sign. Both of those Beautiful Fatties appear to have already strapped on the Fall Feed Bag. October is just around the corner and it looks like the bite is coming on. Stay on them my friend. (I'm counting the days) A-Jay

Bit Of A Rant / Vent
The last of 2 weeks of rain combined with several miles of two-track access roads had caused a fair amount of "Groad" to form on the truck which indicated it was time for a cleaning. So I spent the morning yesterday washing / detailing the truck. Completed by noon, took my wife out to lunch, ran a couple of routine errands and returned home. After dinner, I went out to load my gear in the truck for the next mornings fishing. And there it was, some fine human had found it necessary to Key the entire length of the passenger side of the vehicle. Come On Man ! What kind of a Knuckle head does this ? And why do they feel that I'm to blame for their lot in life ? Side bar - all of the establishments we visited yesterday have parking lot security camera coverage. I hoping this may provide me an opportunity to meet this special person and mention how I really didn't appreciate their decision to deface my personal property. (and then rip their #$%^&%$@ throat out ! ) OK - I'm done ( but still really not a happy camper ! ) A-Jay

2 K
My wife did, I did not. By the time the 47's came out I was E-7 and doing Sar controller, and then Ready for Ops - retired in 07. I've been U/W on many, still prefer the 44 - slower but reliable - cables not elctronics. A-Jay
