  1. Congrats ~ ! That's a Great Bass Right There ! And on a light line Spinner to boot. WTG. A-Jay
  2. I do - Berkley Trilene Big Game, mostly in Green; in everything from 10-25lb test. It does everything I ask it to do at a very reasonable price. For a leader smaller than 10 lb I use Yozuri hybrid. I've given up on flourocarbon completely. It probably just me, but it has failed me more times than I'd like to admit. Additionally, I like the little stretch the 10-15ft of mono provides; especially during the last stages of a spirited fight close to the boat. The mono is getting the brunt of the work and might be less likely to pull a hook. So, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. A-Jay
  3. I'm not a fan of either - I'll throw them to get bit but really would prefer to do something else. Almost Anything else. Push comes to shove ~ Drop Shot A-Jay
  4. Nice Smallie ! And I like your fish measuring/box set up. A-Jay
  5. Use this, at least you'll have a ball park figure - A-Jay http://www.bassresource.com/bassfishing/fishcalculator.html
  6. ^^^^^^ X2 What He Said. A-Jay
  7. And sometimes BIG ! Can you say LC 128 ? A-Jay
  8. I started mixing in the Lobster as a jig trailer from the Rage craw late this spring. I think the bigger profile and slower fall accounted for several of my better fish this summer. Where the Lobster trailer really shines for me is at night. A-Jay
  9. I'm dragging a CastleCraft trailer - it comes in a box and you assemble it yourself. I took my time and I think it was a couple of days start to finish. I was unable to locate a suitable trailer locally so I was very glad to find this on line. This trailer has been trouble free and I'm pleased with it. Here's the link - btw - they don't exactly give them away . . . . A-Jay http://www.castlecra...noe_trailer.htm
  10. I fish from a Old Town Predator square back canoe, I think it's just under 16 ft. Been in it for 5 seasons now. Suits me perfectly. Has a 40 inch beam and I stand to fish all day and night. I cart it around on a trailer - It's THE ONLY WAY TO GO. Launching and recover could not be any easier, especially when it's a one man show. It does fish my wife and I quite comfortably. A few modifications here and there and I'm good to go. A-Jay
  11. I need to move - seriously ! A-Jay
  12. It's taken way too long but the new 300D finally arrived. (A Keeper not the Demo). Vendors seem to be having a heck on a time getting them in stock. I'm about to find of why. A-Jay
  13. Make your own. EWG hook of your choice + a split ring + a drop shot weight = Bass Dude Rig. Really easy and completely customizable. A-Jay
  14. After a fairly inaccurate cast ~ "Fish it like you meant it" And then when I hook up on that bad cast - "Right where she was suppose to be" A-Jay
  15. Very Cool Photos ~ ! I truly love night Ops. There's just something about it that seems to take that "big bass anticipation" up another notch. And I do understand and appreciate the fun of "ninja night ops" - just adds another level to the whole experience. "It's OK - I know a Guy . . . " A-Jay
  16. Congrats ~ ! Sweet Bass. A-Jay
  17. I was on the second day of 2 weeks of Official Leave from the USCG Stationed in Atlantic City, NJ as a Search & Rescue Controller, I watched about 10 minutes of it unfold on a TV at the Gym. Needless to say, Leave was over - and we were busy. That day changed the world forever. A-Jay
  18. Holy Smokes ~ ! Cool video & Excellent Narrative. A-Jay

After 28 year of service I'll provide you this - Don't know if you plan on being a career man but for me, it's was about timing. If the family unit was stable and I could manage it, I preferred to be deployed while the children were pre-teen in age. In fact, I would attempt to deployed more while they were younger so that I could be around a bit more when they were in Jr High and High school. Didn't always work out but if I was will to take it on the chin a little, the assignment officers were willing to hook me up on the next tour. Give a little - get a little. Learning to drive, peer pressure, dating, and curfews, etc: all good times and evolutions I wanted to be a part of. The money is nice but you can't put a price on being there. Something to think about. A-Jay
  20. Yes Thanks I'm Good. A bit of a downer day yesterday - but it's all relative and I really shouldn't be such a winer :C) I got out yesterday morning to see if I could get into a few smb on the new fly rod. Didn't go well - at all. In fact I got the first skunk job of the year I'm not a fan. I botched the hook set on a couple of fish that were willing and snapped off a real mutant ( 6lb tippet). Then I scurried off the water ahead of a thunderhead that was heading my way rapidly. To finish of the trip, when I beached the Old Town - as I was getting out of the canoe at the gravel boat ramp - some one had Power loaded a nice hole (more like a cavern - and proceeded to step into crotch deep water. I was expecting ankle deep so the knee high boots were of no help there. I stumbled a bit, dropped some gear in the lake and I sure there were a few choice obscenities uttered - I was a little ticked off. There was no one around to see these follies but I bet It looked very comical - Just not to me.
  21. The north woods of Michigan is home to a decent collection of birds, reptiles, amphibians and furry mammals. The only thing I don't want to bump into is a black bear, and there's a few around. They are usually seeing you Way before you see them and they will avoid people at least around here. Only came across one in the last 5 years but that was enough. A Zero Dark Thirty meeting at boat ramp pretty far off the beaten path - I don't know who was more surprised, me or Yogi but I may have needed clean fishing pants. A-Jay
  22. Reaction Innovations Little Dipper Balances out very nicely on a small swim jig A-Jay
  23. You're right, Dwight Thanks That did help a little ~ A-Jay
