No Truck = No Fishing !
Nice - I just passed quite a bit of my Holiday Adult beverage through my sinus cavity - Dwight, I'd love to do a little planning and set up some things so that I can be up your way this fall perhaps - do you think that might work for an Autumn outing ? A-Jay

No Truck = No Fishing !
Perhaps a quiet morning wading the Au Sable, fly rod in hand would be in order, good thinking. And btw, I never said I don't have wheels. My substitute transportation doesn't do much towing but it will haul . . . . . A-Jay

No Truck = No Fishing !
Thanks for your opinions guys. Over the years I've had my share of vehicle repair experiences, good and bad. I have some GM family members so that makes me a Go to the Dealer guy. Also I'm fortunate to know a couple of the guys in this shop. They left the truck on the lift and when I got there we went over it. I appreciated that. The repairs are minor for the most part, the delay comes in a couple of parts they don't have in stock but will overnight them for me. The long weekend isn't helping. I bought the Sierra Denali new in 05 - I "baby" it big time and it has less than 60k on it so the repairs are an investment. I've driven the newer models and Like this better and there's NO Payments left on this one . . . .

No Truck = No Fishing !
So I dropped the GMC off at the dealer today for some routine maintenance. Right. Headed into town to do some shopping then went back to pick it up. I knew something was up when I didn't see it out in the lot on my approach. I don't have a cell phone (no coverage up here) so they couldn't call me to tell me they had "found several issues" that need to be addressed. Oh My. Long story short - The truck will be ready Late next week. Between now and then there will be NO FISHING for me - OUCH ! Perhaps I could train my dogs to pull the boat trailer to the lake. A-Jay

Pike
I hear ya J, I actually have some - it's a gaudy green color but it is a bit cheaper and available locally. I love catching big pike, they really Hammer a jig too. Nothing subtle about it. A-Jay

Pike
The pike / bass over lap is KILLING ME ! Seems like just about every mid-depth drop with weeds on it is holding decent size bass AND over sized Pike. I am Very Tied if feed these toothy devils my best jigs ! And when I go with a leader I don't get bit. I am using AFW surflon in camo which is thin and tie-able. I'm gonna start keeping them and feeding it to my pack - they would love it ! A-Jay

Fishing In The Rain?
I'm headed out into the same mess this morning as well. I dislike fishing in the rain but have had some success at times. If I catch I don't mind being a little soggy, but when I don't, it's less fun, OK it's miserable especially when it's cold and windy too. I'm throwing jigs and soft plastics to pre-spawn fish. Good Luck A-Jay

What If You Caught A Record?
I release every fish but if I landed a bass over or close enough to justify the efforts required by the This state's DNR, I'm keeping it and following the guide lines verbatim. State records are recognized by weight only. To qualify for a state record, your fish must exceed the current listed state record weight and identification must be verified by a DNR fisheries biologist. All state record entry fish must be weighed on a commercial scale (grocery store, meat market, etc) and record the business name where scale is located. If possible, attach weight slip. Now that sounds like a chore to do, but the real tough part would be getting a lmb over 11-15 or a smb over 9-4 ! It's possible and I'm ready for it if and when I may tie into something like that but I'm not expecting it to actually happen. A-Jay
