After seeing the "New Look" I was concerned that all the bells & whistles add would be a distraction. Additionally, I was worried that the members of my generation (child of the 50's) might not be too thrilled with the changes. They might choose to participate here a bit less or even worse, not at all. Some serious knowledge and experience in all things, not just bass fishing, is routinely shared by these valuable members and it would be a great loss and quite a shame to lose them. Time will tell just how this plays out. A-Jay
  2. I really enjoyed that. Mr Hackney appears to be a very pleasant and ground man who truly loves what he does. Thanks Glenn A-Jay

Congrats - Sweet looking bass. I'd trade Bass for Class any day. And I have to say AJ, that is the most up scale Performance Fishing attire ever. (nice name btw). A-Jay
  4. And there ya go ! Nice work guys - I'll get my first shot at it in just over 3 weeks. (Season Opener here) Thanks for keeping me motivated til then . . . . . A-Jay
  5. WTG Chris ! ! ! It sounds like that was one fun day on the water. You've certainly earned it. Your story and photo are great. Those are certainly some honk-in' fish you are tackling with that light gear. It's impressive and sounds like you're got it down. Speaking of your tackle, this came from the link you posted regarding the rod you use - "A high-performance ultra-light rod designed to fish very light line. It makes catching small fish a lot of fun and has enough power to handle larger ones should the opportunity present itself." I'm betting the good folks over at G.Loomis did not envision anyone targeting Monster sturgeon with their panfish rod ! Congrats again A-Jay
  6. Season opener is still 4 weeks away for me - but with all the great sticks on BR who can fish, there MUST be at least a few new entries . . . . A-Jay
  7. Great video Dude. That bass was stout ! Also, very nice job landing that toad. If you've never fished from a small craft like that, you don't know just how interesting/challenging landing a good fish can be. Alot can go wrong and keeping your rod & reel from taking a dip is one of them. Congrats again A-Jay
  8. 20 feet up? Are you fishing from a bridge or are you wearing stilts - must be tough to work that trolling motor. Talk about "a bird's eye view" A-Jay
  9. Okay I dont know about all those crazy noises you were talking about. I think you have been spending a little too much time in the woods if that is even possible. But I do know what you are talking about when it comes to the cannon ball noises. Turns out the noises were from beavers jumping into the water from the sides of the quarry. It was pretty awesome to see. Yea Buddy - beavers often slap their tails on the water as a warning I guess or perhaps to frighten off the would be intruder. And - it works quite well. When on a dark quite night they do one of those outrageous tail slaps right next to the boat - wow ! No matter how many times I hear it, that first one always scares the ^&*()%$ right out of me . . . . A-Jay
  10. Nope - and you were only 5 weeks early. A-Jay
  11. Bait Monkey e-mailed me this link. Stock up - I did ! A-Jay http://www.hooksettersupply.com/Fishing_Tackle_On_Sale_s/272.htm
  12. Cool Clip - I do believe that a Smokin' Rooster would work in that situation as well. A-Jay
  13. I'll add this - I started fishing from a canoe 3 years ago. For the first 2 years I avoided the wind big time but doing this reduced my days on the water quite a bit. So last year I decieded to brave the wind and get out in it whenever I could. Of course I was not wreckless and if it was unsafe I did not go. Whether it was more time on the water or fishing in the wind I don't know for sure but last year I took my pb lmb, smb and a bonus pike ALL on "windy" days. These results have inspired me to make a concerted effort to be on the water when the blow first comes on and before the water has a chance to get all churned up. Good luck A-Jay
  14. That blows. All we got was rain...We getting lucky. If it was still frozen around here I'd go nuts. I"M Getting Really Really Close ! ! A-Jay
  15. I hear ya ~ we got over 12" last night, with more on the way ~ which when combined with the THUNDER & LIGHTNING at 2 AM made for an interesting night. You know it's a bad night when your Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Huskies run back inside. It's beginning to look alot like Christmas - Again . . . . . btw - there is NO thawing here yet and we still get snow in May. A-Jay
  16. That Zona guy - He just ain't right ~ Nice job as usual Glenn. A-Jay
  17. Shhhhhhhh - Now don't go telling everyone about smelly jelly - especially the "Bass Hammer" - Seriously though, the Smelly Jelly Sticky Liquid has been my scent of choice for a few years now. I have not tried JJ's and don't plan to, it's a risk over gain thing for me. A-Jay
  18. I hear you all - This was more of a joke than anything else. I've been switching back and forth between a high and tight and a shaved head for several years. After the Kojack look for the summer, this winter I chose to let it grow out (mostly to keep my head warm). I knew there would be areas of sparse coverage but secretly I was hoping that there might be a few new seedling sprouting up. Well - not so much, actually quite a bit less. But what did come in kept my nugget from freezing solid and if'n it ever thaws out up here, I'll be a happy skin head once again. A-Jay
  19. That was IMPRESSIVE ! ! ! Johnny Bones Jones is a STUD ! Shogun looked lost . . . and a bit out of shape maybe even a little soft. Either way it is Scarey to imagine that Jones will get better ! A-Jay
  20. THAT, sounds like a judgement call to me . . . . A-Jay
  21. Is it a judgement call or is there an offical line of demarcation ? How far back over the top of my head does my "reseeding hairline" have to be before I'm offically a Bald Guy ? Is it once my fore head becomes a five-head ? It's pretty close now. A-Jay
  22. That right there is Hard Core ! Nice Fatty ~ WTG ~ A-Jay

I'm a fan of several baits in the Rage Tail line up. btw ~ have you seen ANY of the posts by this man ? They routinely include The Biggest Bass I could ever hope to catch, all tempted by a Rage Tail Product. A-Jay http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1299795340
  24. This was my wife's first experience with UL tackle and 4 lb line. I think it was late summer/early fall and the fish took a tube right in front of that grass line in the back round of the photo. A-Jay
  25. As prior BR member, this is a cool article ~ A-Jay http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/classic/news/story?page=classic_2011_Marshal_Rides
